Pisces New Moon, Neptune & Universal Oneness

So, the Pisces New Moon arrived yesterday and I was in a fog after my trip to my island home last week. Oh, I knew it was the New Moon and I talked about it quite a bit with friends and a couple of clients, but when it came time to write about it,  I struggled to get thoughts and words out of the brain and through the fingertips to the keyboard. Add in a laptop screen that broke down again several days ago and was all hazy and plaid and hard-to-see and you have a Neptunian kind of communication. Not to mention the distractions of coming home and having to do laundry, some house cleaning, take out trash, and re-connect with the kitties! There's the escapism/illusion side of Neptune and Pisces.

Now, on to the spiritual growth side of connection to the divine and universal oneness. Neptune is the planetary energy whose natural home is the mutable water sign Pisces, and as such, Neptune is the ruler of the oceans. The Piscean influence expresses through psychic impressionability, sensitivity, compassion and self-sacrifice. Pisces natives often need to retreat into their own world because they can feel too much and need to set some limits on those impressions. Visiting the opposite side of the Pisces coin, Virgo, helps with the discernment of what is mine and what is yours, what I can do something about, or where it is best to mind my own business. There was a movie called Yours, Mine and Ours and that's how I like to think of this balancing act between the Pisces(compassion) and Virgo(discernment) axis and where they can meet - in the heart center.

As the lunar cycle begins another round of new to first quarter to full and finally last quarter moon periods, we have a wonderful opportunity to begin anew, every month.  Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac that the Sun will travel through before the Vernal Equinox on March 20th when it enters Aries for its annual tour of the twelve signs. But yesterday, the Sun and Moon came together to highlight the need for compassion and understanding, trusting our instincts and being more flexible during this lunar cycle. What makes this time so special is that Neptune just happens to be joining the party in the first degree of Pisces. Years from now, we'll be looking back on this time and saying "remember when..."

No matter what you need to take care of, begin or end, as long as you do it with sensitivity and clarity of thought, you will be acknowledging Neptune's ability to tune into the undercurrents of inner feelings and the way forward will be at least partially illuminated. The other consideration where Pisces is involved is that of 'service'. The questions to ask yourself could be "where am I of service to others?", or "how can I be of service to the greater good?", or "have I become a martyr in service to others and I'm not taking care of myself?" Once again, balance is the key... not too much of one thing and a lack of another.

Be especially mindful of those people in your life who are struggling with addiction issues, as that is another manifestation of escapism. Often, people suffering with this illness of mind, body and spirit are in fact searching for their connection to their own divinity and the escape through drugs or alcohol is part of the search. Addicted behaviors know no bounds, causing loved ones to feel that they suffer the most. Forgiveness is a two-way street, of self and others, no matter if you are the injured party or the one suffering from an addiction. There's no need to be an enabler and there is help when the addict is ready.

That's all for now, but I appreciate your feedback and will answer any questions you may have about Neptune and/or Pisces. In the meantime, remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground.

Happy Full Moon in Leo Everyone!

Are you having any fun yet? This Full Moon highlights the creative energy of the child. Remember what it was like to look at the world through a child's eyes, full of possibility and wonder at all the joys around us!  With the Sun in Fixed Air and the Moon opposite in Fixed Fire it may be up to the Leo Moon to show us how to have fun right now.   The polarity of these two signs is about the creative and often-times dramatic expressions between the individual and the group. Who leads... the Leo of course! And who says how to play fair and allow everyone a chance to express themselves... the Aquarian!

The Sabian Symbol for 19 degrees of Leo is A Houseboat Party. The symbolism of being afloat on a houseboat allows for an unfettered flow of energy, an escape from the norm, a time of social freedom among individuals. While it may be too late to send out invitations and order Tiki lights for an impromptu gathering, perhaps you could look at the power of Fun in your life. Who are your friends and do you take the time to just be together with people whose company you enjoy because they allow you to be yourself and vice-verse without worrying about social acceptability or respectability? The enjoyment here is about freedom and acceptance of self and others.

Another celestial event today is disciplined Saturn doing an about-face for the next five months, as he turns retrograde in the last degree of Libra until June 25th. This is an opportunity to revisit the relationship concerns and lessons of the past three months. As Saturn goes back over the territory where you sought balance, since the end of last October, you may finally get some closure on a relationship issue or an understanding of your responsibility to others that you have worked so hard on. Harmony isn't going to happen all in one day, but any sincere efforts you already made or continue to make, will begin to show up over the next several months. By the time Saturn gets ready to move out of Libra in the Fall, you will hopefully have an even keel under you and know where your responsibilities lie as Saturn prepares to plunge into Scorpio.

Communication, connecting with others and listening are also on the agenda today as the Sun lines up with Mercury in Aquarius. Pay attention to new ideas that come in from out-of-the-blue, or a comment heard from a sibling or friend. Maybe it's time for you to speak up in a group meeting. When this energy of logic and interaction is lined up with the solar and lunar energy of a Full Moon, there's an important message there between your inner and outer self! Maybe you need to get quiet in order to hear the message.

Receptive Venus leaves sensitive Pisces after midnight entering into the forceful first sign of the zodiac, Aries for a month. This planet feels more comfortable in the signs of Taurus and Libra which enhance her powers of attraction and beauty. While her sweet nature is more easily expressed in gentler realms than that ruled by aggressive Mars, look for strong female leaders or spokespersons for women's issues to be heard from in the month ahead. Sometimes, it takes the beauty to tame the beast. Venus in Aries is a good time to start a new savings regime, one that isn't risky.

With the Moon in earthy Virgo Wednesday and Thursday, efforts are best turned toward organization, especially of health and/or paperwork concerns. Cleaning the cupboards, eating more healthy foods and doing an internal cleanse are all great Virgo expressions. Focusing on detail work that involves close attention, or gathering all your paperwork for doing the taxes is another good use of your time. If you've already done your taxes, you could clean out the useless files you no longer need in that old filing cabinet. Then the Moon enters Libra for Friday, Saturday and most of Sunday . Expect your tranquility to be interrupted early Friday evening as the upstart energy of Uranus opposes the Moon and something unexpected may show up! And don't expect a peaceful or uneventful morning Saturday either when powerful Pluto squares off with the Moon possibly bringing up a very challenging dilemma. Sunday seems to be the most harmonious when the Moon makes more pleasant aspects to the Sun and Mercury before joining with Saturn at 4:09 pm for it's final stop in Libra and an hour's reprieve as it wends its way through to Scorpio at 5:36pm.

Overcoming Obstacles From The Past at The First Quarter Moon

Yes, I know it's two days after the First Quarter Moon, but I had to deal with no water for two days, so I'm still going to talk about using this energy to move forward. What was your obstacle and did you have the realization of having made a change that would facilitate your growth by the Full Moon, or are you still trying to remove ties that are holding you back?

Make a conscious effort to press forward with the seeds planted at the Aquarian New Moon and know that your efforts will show growth if you aren't hanging onto the past. We have 6 more days before the Full Moon highlights our progress, so get busy! In the meantime, my dear reader, we have something BIG happening in the solar system that will have profound affects for years to come. Know what it is?

That's right, Neptune is moving into its' home territory of Pisces on Friday, where it hasn't been for 164 years! Neptune symbolizes impressionability and receptivity and is sometimes known for its' nebulousness and compassion. This watery planet's energy brings a chance to connect with spiritual guidance or an opportunity to escape from responsibility via drugs, alcohol, daydreaming or being deceitful. The higher path involves imagination, artistic creativity and compassion while the less evolved traits can bring evasiveness, impracticality or hypersensitivity. Neptune is ruler of the oceans and the watery sign of Pisces.

If you've been needing to incorporate more creative energy into your life or work, this can be a boon for you. If, on the other hand, you already struggle with a lack of boundaries you need to get really clear and discerning so that you don't get lost in the fog on the path of least resistance. Sometimes, that means getting professional guidance to help you steer a more direct path.

Expect to see more issues around the oceans, water and compassion as Neptune knows no boundaries. Prayer and meditation are valuable tools for using the inspirational vibrations and receiving spiritual protection and strength. A word of caution however, if you're not a monk or a nun, don't spend all day contemplating your navel, because that's not too different from other escapist behaviors. Most of us have to take care of our daily responsibilities, and taking some time each day to ask for guidance is helpful as long as we are not avoiding reality. More on Neptune as time unravels~

In the meantime, remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground.
