Working WithThe Sun, Uranus And Pluto As We Transition To 2012

Happy "almost" New Year everyone! As we say goodbye to the past year, it's important to remind ourselves of the progress made in 2011 and how it is helping to propel us forward in to 2012. Please reread last week's post to get the Capricorn energy firmly in your mind. This is an important time to jump on board any business or career changes on your horizon. And no, you fellow Sags, you can't wait a few months... 2011 is being shaken loose as we move at light-speed toward the future that is 2012!

That powerhouse of energy, light and warmth, known to us as the Sun, met up with regenerative Pluto, the astronomically demoted planet of transformation that works through disintegration and elimination, early yesterday morning, to bring some kind of healing catharis. Then both planets  interacted harmoniously with the Pisces Moon to help you identify what needs to go and what you need to give new life to. We are often reminded of celestial alignments in physical form and are given the opportunity to move ahead through stuck places if we are paying attention to the symbols in our daily lives.

I suggest you work with any insight you received yesterday and last night, for taking action that allows you to let go of the past and move into the future. Today's void-of-course moon in Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac, provides the perfect time for meditation and reflection to focus on the past and release any residual sticking points. Celestial aspects get more challenging Saturday with the Moon in Aries triggering revolutionary Uranus in the morning and transformational Pluto in the afternoon, providing the right mix for either a break-down or a break-through, either way opening a new door for turning things around on Sunday. Avoid extreme behaviors, people and/or decisions this New Year's Eve.

January 1, 2012 starts the new year under an Aries Moon making a square aspect to the Sun, known as the first Quarter Moon. This is a key time for tweaking plans, being persistent and steadfastly re-focusing on your ambitions! There are still opportunities to make progress toward achieving your business or career goals this first week of the year until the Full Moon on January 8th. A reminder - from New to Full Moon, energy increases and you want to work with it, then from Full to the next New Moon, energy wanes and that is the time to follow through on what was already started.

Remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground, especially now. All the best to each of us in the year ahead~

Happy Winter Solstice 2011: Going Within And Welcoming The Return Of The Light

The Sun entered the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn just after midnight today, signaling a focus on business and career and the return of the light as the days gradually get longer. This is the Winter Solstice when each individual has to look at their ability to effectively take responsibility for the power they are about to claim as they assume authority for some part of their life. (paraphrased from Dane Rudhyar's Astrological Mandala for the first Capricorn Sabian Symbol) We are in the darkest hour just before the New Moon and there is a strong need to go within and meditate for clarity to know just where our responsibility lies.

The New Moon in Capricorn takes place as the Sun and Moon come together at 1:06 pm on Christmas Eve day at 2 degrees and 34 minutes of the sign. We read the Sabian Symbol for 3 degrees as "A Human Soul In Its' Eagerness For New Experiences, Seeks Embodiment". Wow, talk about symbolism for the birth of the Christ! My beliefs allow for the Christ-light within each of us to be embodied in this time of new beginnings. Prayer and meditation people - focus on what you want to see in the world, not that which you do not want. Energy follows thought and word, so set your intention to create what you want to grow. Be the Light that you want to see in the world!

Jump on the bandwagon beginning Christmas day, up until the Full Moon on January 8th, 2012, to begin any new venture, partnership or business you want to see grow in 2012. This is a really important time to take care of business and FOCUS on that which you want to see grow and reap results in the year ahead. Please, do not miss this opportunity to make things happen!

Another auspicious celestial event on Christmas is the Direct station of expansive Jupiter, the cosmic Santa Claus and largest planet in our solar system, as it stops, turns and starts to move forward once again in Taurus - the earth sign that has to do with money, values and personal self-worth.  Jupiter brings abundance, opportunity and good luck, as well as abundant opportunities to mess up! How can both be true, you ask? Well, Jupiter expands whatever he comes into contact with and doesn't discriminate between positive or negative opportunities.  In Taurus, we want him to save lots of money and grow what we have, not risk it all. If you're wisely using your resources and abilities and have gained insight through your self-reflection, you'll know which possibilities are open to you and in your best interest!

I want to share something which I have to remind myself of on occasion and it is this: "Accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative and don't mess with Mr. In-between."

And remember, keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground.

December Delights and Dilemmas

We begin the month under the spell of Mercury retrograde until the 13th. As most of you know, the "messenger of the gods" relays information from the divine cosmos to the human mind. This important planet has the responsibility of communicating and  transporting information, people or things from place to place, via cars, phones, letters, etc. When Mercury is in retrograde motion, delays, breakdowns and snafus can affect said movement. This period lasts for 3.5 weeks and usually occurs three times a year, sometimes four. It is a really good time to do research or review a project you've been working on, anything that needs finishing up or study before you put it out into the world or make an agreement to begin something new. Things to avoid are car, computer or major purchases, signing contracts and/or beginning a big new project.

December 1st saw Venus,( love, money and values), joining forces with the transformational powerhouse, Pluto, in the earth sign of shakers and movers - Capricorn. This intense union brings up issues of where we place our most important investments of time, love and money. Everyone has been asking themselves the pertinent questions of what to do with their personal resources and who to partner with in professional, business or personal endeavors for the past week or more. Now that these energies have aligned, you ought to be getting a definite picture of the answers to these questions. You need to take charge of what is, or is not, working for you. Knowing where you stand is an important piece of the puzzle which can allow you to make more informed choices about how to take back, or stay in control of, your finances or personal affairs.

Today's liason of Venus, representing beauty, attraction and aesthetics with Mars, the out-going energy of desire and physical assertion, may bring things to a new boiling point for lovers and those wanting a deeper connection. For the rest of us.... it may have to do with values aligning with energy which gives us the impetus to get moving and do what we love! Whatever your situation, I hope you thoroughly enjoy this really good energy after a few days of uncertainty. The next few days are under the influence of Venus, as ruler of Taurus, where the Moon will spend time on Tuesday, Wednesday and half of Thursday, making practicality, reliability and patience the keywords mid-week. Enjoy the natural beauty of nature, maintain your financial well-being and enjoy completing projects you have already invested  your resources into.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday bring a strong emphasis on ideas, socializing and planning as Luna wends her way through airy Gemini - just don't assume that these days will be a breeze though! The energy ratchets up as we move closer to the Full Moon in Gemini on Saturday morning, which also happens to be a total Lunar Eclipse, and a feeling of restlessness and ambiguity predominates.  The culmination of the waxing Moon in opposition to the Sagittarian Sun at 9:36 a.m.highlights what we think we know and the process of gaining wisdom through study or travel to sacred places of higher learning or understanding.

The Lunar Eclipse point at 19 degrees of Gemini has as its' Sabian Symbol "A Large Archaic Volume Reveals A Traditional Wisdom" which speaks to the underlying wisdom of our human minds and the "seed-knowledge" of our growth on this earth. It is suggested that small groups of like-minded individuals gather together in meditation allowing new ideas to grow or be shared as we connect to ancient wisdom in this process of knowingness.

So, we can see that Mercury is the planetary force to be dealt with this week - picking, choosing, socializing, deciding, learning, study and the mental process. A detailed review of what has worked this year and whether you're where you want to be in your process goes hand-in-hand with practical efforts and small steps toward your goals.

As always, remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground... quite apropos this week, wouldn't you say?!

Expect Your Horizons to Expand!

Here we are again, at that last week in the Lunar cycle where we get to work with the energy of the recent Last Quarter Moon, which occurred last Friday. It was a battle of the Will (Leo Moon) squaring off with emotional attachments(Scorpio Sun) - feeling strong and unstoppable, yet confronted with the passionate motivations of others and having to deal with it all! Don't you just love two fixed signs each trying to have it their way?! If you're ready to let go of expectations and attachments, you can rejoice in knowing that the Sagittarius New Moon arrives tomorrow!

The Sun's vitality gets to express itself in the outgoing, Mutable Fire sign of Sagittarius, ninth sign of the Zodiac, beginning tomorrow at 11:08 a.m. The archer takes center-stage mid-way through our quest to shed light on the trials and tribulations experienced during Scorpio's conflicts. Sagittarius is represented by the Centaur, half man and half beast, whose purpose it is to rise above man's animal nature to a higher level of understanding and insight in our quest for meaning.

Bows and arrows aside, the spiritual warrior still needs to keep his or her eye on the goal in order to reach their destination. The adaptable nature of Sag doesn't mean they shoot an arrow into the sky not knowing or caring where it lands, it means allowing for new pathways to unfold in the search and then bringing back and sharing the information once it's been found. The Solar Eclipse New Moon on Friday brings the lunar energy together with this Sagittarius Sun for a new direction and a new start. Before we can talk about that, there's a little matter of Mercury going retrograde on Thanksgiving day to be discussed...

The Messenger of the Gods - Mercury, has slowed way down, getting ready to change direction on Thursday, Nov. 24th and travel in retrograde motion until Dec.13th. This takes place between 20 degrees and 4 degrees of Sagittarius; if you have any planets in these degrees of the mutable signs, (4 to 21) you will experience this cycle a bit more personally than the general populace might. I think I just heard some of you exhale and curse Mercury... no fair... he's just doing his job relaying information from the heavens to us mere mortals on the earth! Mercury gets more done with logic and reason, which requires a break now and then to assess matters.

Mercury's job is to move quickly through the ethers/air to facilitate the communication or movement of something from one place to another. When retrograde, things like letters, responses, applications, phone calls, etc. can be delayed and moving parts on cars, computers or other machinery can break down. Why, you may ask, is this so? It is necessary to slow things down for review so that our minds don't overload, so that we may do research, or finish old projects before beginning new ones. Be careful during Mercury retrograde cycles (three per year... for practice...) to avoid important signings, new purchases and starting new ventures, so that logical perspectives don't fly out the window and come back to haunt you later!

Now that you know the general guidelines for the upcoming weeks - making a plan, looking at the bigger picture while not agreeing to anything new and researching your options, let me tell you about the New Moon Solar Eclipse taking place in the wee hours early on Friday. A New Moon happens when the Moon joins the Sun at it's present location in the zodiac, combining instinctual behavior with the vitality of the life-giving Sun. Inner and outer come together in Sagittarius to begin the pursuit of a new path to our goals. Long-range plans, particularly involving study and travel are the seeds to plant now. Sagittarius is a freedom-loving sign that usually takes a philosophical viewpoint of the glass being half-full. Filled with aspirations of reaching great heights, these natives can sweep others up with their enthusiasm. Cautious optimism based on some solid research ought to be the keynote when the Sun begins its' trek through this adaptable sign of the zodiac.

We look to three degrees of Sagittarius for the significance of the Sabian Symbol, which is "Two Men Playing Chess". This symbolism speaks to the need for strategy and patience, as well as adaptability and the skillfulness of planning for your opponent's moves.  Getting over-confident can end the game with your opponent winning, but careful thought and consideration can find you the winner!

The New Moon this month is also a partial Solar Eclipse taking place at 2 degrees and 27 minutes of Sagittarius. Eclipse energy can highlight your birth chart if close to an angle or personal planet; some eclipses seem to affect us more than others and that is probably due to what it interacts with and where it takes place in your natal chart. A Solar eclipse has an effect on events and situations around us, while a Lunar eclipse has more to do with our personal growth.

Remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground!

Out of the Fog and Into the Moonlight

I was born on my Neptune line so it's safe to say I am used to operating in the fog... not that I accomplish all I set out to do, but I get through it. Why am I telling you this? Because today, that giant blue marble spinning on the edge of our solar system stopped in its tracks to turn from retrograde to direct motion once more. We can have our eyes opened to what is all around us now that Neptune is moving forward again. What did you learn from your recent visions, dreams or musings that can help you find your way now?

I hope you jotted down any information you may have gleaned, because some of the most potent insight may be very elusive. We are dealing with the nebulousness of Neptune after all, and Neptune deals with the subconscious realms of spirit, not earthly or mundane matters. You can set your intention to receive information from the ethers or your own subconscious before you go to sleep tonight and tomorrow night. A meditation is in order as well, either alone or with like-minded people, to focus on what both your subconscious mind and the Full Moon can bring to light.

Taurus highlights values, self-worth, money and what we treasure, as well as the earth and her gifts. Remember the New Moon was in Scorpio two weeks ago, and that was about the give and take of our values, our money and who or what we're willing to partner with. Today's Full Moon will show you just what it is you need or won't let go of that defines what you value about yourself, what you learned in the past couple of weeks from those you have engaged with and what your personal exchange rate is. In other words, you're learning what exactly it is that you're willing to exchange, negotiate, trade or give up for what you want. A few words of caution here, be prudent and don't throw caution to the wind. It is timely to hang on to your self-worth as well as your wallet!

The Sabian Symbol for nineteen degrees of Taurus is A New Continent Rising Out of the Ocean. Now there's a Taurean image - earth arising, something solid and stable and something new to be discovered. The spontaneity of a fresh start suddenly appearing on the horizon brings up images of opportunities. If you are ready for a productive new beginning, then you have probably let go of anything holding you back from the promise of a fresh horizon! The rewards of persevering  come with allowing things to evolve over time... an island doesn't just pop up ready to be inhabited in one day. Working toward your desired outcome and putting in the effort and time is what's important now.

Another planetary change is that the action Mars is leaving Leo and moving into the zodiac sign of Virgo later tonight. Having the energy and drive to take care of your health and nutrition, do detailed paperwork or clean up your environment is what will serve you best well into January of next year. Watch out for the Mars' tendency to jump, explode or aggressively pursue details that may make others around you crazy. You can actually accomplish a lot by focusing your efforts and taking care to put things where they belong, whether in the pantry, the filing cabinet or in your mind. When you feel the urge to nit-pick, don't - go for a walk instead!

With Venus, (love and money...) and Mercury, (communication) so close together in Sagittarius, it's a great time to pursue the higher goals in life, including education or travel to a foreign country to learn about other customs, laws, etc. and you don't actually have to leave home to do it. Don't forget that enjoyment comes from taking the time to share your adventures, philosophy and/or inspirations with those around you. Slide shows, study groups or social gatherings can bring glimpses of the future to brighten the colder and darker weeks ahead.

Remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground~

Mixed Outlook For This Last Quarter Moon Week of October

Today's Last Quarter Moon in Cancer signals the time when the influences of the previous three weeks of this Lunar cycle have played out and the only thing to do now is to make a conscious decision on how to use, or clean up from, the energies generated since the New Moon in Libra. The relationship between the Sun and the Moon is a challenging square and it begins what we call the fourth quarter. The challenge is to integrate what we have actively done to accomplish the intentions we set at the beginning of the cycle, with whether or not we feel we have grown positively in that direction. If not, this week before the next New Moon is best spent taking care of business, but not initiating any big new plans!

The Sun is still in Libra, a Cardinal Air sign whose energy is best expressed by seeking balancing in relationships. The Moon today is in the Cardinal Water sign of Cancer, its' ruler-ship, where it finds expression through the emotions and the subconscious, especially when dealing with issues of how and where we are nurtured. Intense emotional upheaval having to do with relationships and emotional needs, has to be dealt with this week in order to prepare for the coming New Moon cycle that starts next week when the Sun and Moon join up in Scorpio.

The Last Quarter Moon occurs at 11:30pm, beginning a void-of-course Moon phase that lasts until the Moon moves into Leo tomorrow morning, at 6:06 a.m. where it will remain through Friday. This period of Leo influence is good for enjoyment and creative pursuits, especially if it reminds you of the joy children find in discovery and just plain having fun! Just make sure that you've taken care of your responsibilities before you decide to cut out of work early. If you are the boss or a supervisor, perhaps you can declare Friday a "fun" day to show your more magnanimous side.

The monthly pairing of the Sun and Neptune in a harmonious relationship on Friday night combines compassion and strength which can bring spiritual guidance without the need for complete surrender or retreating with one's tail between their legs. This aspect reminds me of the cowardly lion finding his courage and what better time than under a Leo Moon!

Virgo Moon brings in the weekend as it holds sway over Saturday and Sunday with an emphasis on orderliness, setting good boundaries and taking care of your health and nutrition. At the end of the lunar cycle, Virgo helps eliminate habits, clean the junk food out of the pantry and fridge and visit the health food store for some new herbs and vitamins. This is a great time to do a seasonal cleanse to rid the body of toxins if your health care adviser/doctor recommends it.

On Sunday, the Sun enters Scorpio at 2:30 p.m. ratcheting up the intensity of emotions, desires and purposeful activity for the month ahead. As the Fixed Water sign of the zodiac, Scorpio is known for being very intense, often suspicious and extremely determined! Scorpio natives are usually magnetic and can work well with a partner equally determined to use their shared resources, drawing from a deep well of creativity. Think of the month of Scorpio energy as an unlimited source of passion and imagination from which to draw your most prolific productions. Remember that in order to reap the most of your creativity, you must work with another for Scorpio's co-creative process to bring you what you truly desire.

Monday morning can be a struggle if you don't go with the flow instead of trying to impose your ideas onto others before the Moon is firmly in Libra at 11:49 a.m. People will still be trying to see where they stand and may be reeling under two trying aspects from the Moon in Libra to Uranus and Pluto on Monday. It's always hard enough during the last couple of days before a new moon cycle when it is literally the darkest time of the month, so go easy on yourself and others while you clean off your desk, finish up old projects and make room for all the creative things you'll be immersed in soon enough! Try to remember that Luna has to travel through Libra for two days before she catches up with and overtakes the Sun in Scorpio at the New Moon on Wednesday.

Remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground!

From Restfulness To Restlessness At The Full Moon In Aries

We are in the midst of Columbus Day weekend, representing an opportunity for many to just unwind while the weather is still enjoyable. Here in the Northeast, the cooler temperatures of Fall bring out the leaf-peepers and the soup recipes. Pisces Moon on Friday night interacted with Neptune for a good dose of nostalgia, after which Venus came along to join in with the whole theme of relaxation and self-indulgence.

Today, Venus, goddess of beauty and attraction, enters the smoldering water sign Scorpio for the next four weeks, bringing an emphasis to sexuality, procreation and creativity. This planetary energy expressing itself through the responsive sign of desire can be very potent, however subtle; watch for signs of sensuality and proceed with caution! Now, before you decide whether to run off to the drugstore for supplies, or not... consider that "creativity" has many meanings. Scorpio is the sign of joint productivity and promotes combining your energy with another to make something really meaningful.Working together now increases the likelihood of achieving your desired outcome.

Getting to the bottom of a mystery or delving into deeper feelings that have lurked beneath the surface will also be supported by Mercury, (intellect, communication and gathering of information)  as it joins Venus in Scorpio on Thursday. Perhaps you have wanted to get to know someone better, study another language, or explore your own feelings - the next several weeks are good for becoming like a diver and entering deeper waters. This is a great time for applied concentration and increased productivity!

The Full Moon culminates Tuesday night at 19 degrees of Aries, the cardinal Fire sign of the zodiac. The Sabian Symbol for this degree is "The Magic Carpet" of Oriental Imagery, which speaks to the use of creative imagination in maintaining an unattached outlook at man's everyday reality. The suggestion of rest and flights of fancy promote the ability to transcend normality through a dreamlike ability to see the whole picture. Where do you need to rise above a present day situation for insight, clarity or understanding? Wherever you find Aries in your birth chart is the area of life where this Full Moon energy can transform your viewpoint!

The monthly union of the Sun and Saturn takes place in Libra on Thursday, drawing attention to the necessity and responsibility of harmonizing in relationships. We have another week and a half of solar energy focused on balance before the sun moves into Scorpio on the 23rd. This conjunction speaks to the power of tradition, the acceptance of limitation and the wisdom of constructive use of resources. Governments and authority figures will definitely be feeling the constraints of their obligations and how to meet the needs of the populace! Once past the Full Moon it is time to work with what we have in as responsible a manner as possible. Where do your reponse-abilities lie and what can you do about them?

Wishing you all a week of steadfast gain towards finding balance in your lives~
Remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground!

Overcoming Obstacles Of The Past & Moving Forward At The First Quarter Moon

Despite all our good intentions and reaching out to significant others since the Libra New Moon earlier this week, the cosmos keeps throwing up roadblocks and surprising us to see how well we can maintain our balance. It is especially important tonight and tomorrow to be aware of energy that seems to sweep us up so that we don't take any rash actions that may cause harm to ourselves or others. Why do I say this... because that action-oriented planet Mars, which desires physical expression "now", is meeting up with the "master of the universe", Jupiter, who knows it all, wants to do it all,  and wants to include you in his plan!

If the momentum to get going on a project has been eluding you until now, then by all means, utilize this fantastic energy to get going! If, on the other hand, you feel pushed or influenced in any way by your own or someone else' anger or desires, please pull back from acting out, as the outcome will be far less than beneficial. For some that may mean identifying whether or not their frustration has built up to the point of no return and if this urge to take action is a good thing or not. For others, it may be timely to forgive and forget the people and situations that they have let hold them back for so long. Frustration with others is just a sign that things aren't "going my way". Frustration with myself is a sign that it is indeed time to take action. Be honest with yourself first to identify whether you are being reactive or proactive!

Now, let's take a look at the First Quarter Moon which also happens to take place tomorrow. The Moon has four basic phases which most people recognize as the New Moon, First Quarter, Full Moon and Last Quarter phases. Once a month the Sun and Moon join together in the same sign, called a New Moon, for planting seeds and new beginnings. Then, a week later, the Moon pulls away to form a ninety degree angle to the Sun which creates a crisis of sorts between the out-going energy and anything holding them back from the past. In order to fully utilize the new ideas and see progress at the Full Moon, one has to deal effectively with the challenge of consciousness that comes at this First Quarter. If you do the same old thing, you're bound to get the same old result.

So, the First Quarter Moon is at ten degrees of Capricorn - cardinal Earth, squaring the Sun at ten degrees of Libra - cardinal Air. That tells me that these two action-oriented signs may be dealing with issues of balance between career and relationship, particularly with authority figures, like bosses or administrations. If you have to choose between pleasing your partner or your boss, that's going to be tricky and if your partner happens to also be a business partner, that's even harder! By the way, these two signs of the zodiac don't care about your feelings or how excited you are about your new project, they just want you to "keep calm and carry on", in the case of Capricorn, or remain neutral, not rocking the boat, in the case of Libra. What do you need to release or change in order to move forward with your goals? How can you achieve success without jeopardizing  your primary relationship(s)? That is what you will have to identify and do if you want to break free of patterns that have held you back in the past. How well you do will be reflected back at you during the Aries Full Moon on Oct. 11th.

One more cosmic line-up that I'd like to talk about today, and that comes up on Thursday, is when Mercury, (logic, reasoning and communication), lines up with Saturn, (responsibility, necessity and austerity). When these two planetary energies come together, we have the ability to put our minds to good use and buckle down on anything that requires detailed work. However, we need to avoid becoming so detail-oriented that we lose sight of the bigger picture or, in our obsessive need to plan everything, we end up annoying others who may actually be allies. Projects that need focus and attention now can see a great deal of progress as long as we remain mindful of others' opinions and honor their input.  If at all possible, you can get a lot done on your own.

The Aquarius Moon on Thursday and Friday lets us work toward common goals without emotional entanglements. Listening to the ideas of like-minded others is helpful for ending the work week in anticipation of a much deserved rest over the long weekend. The Pisces Moon shows up Friday night and stays in affect through Sunday, making it a nice time for movies, nostalgia, music or taking a retreat from the "real" world. However, the Aries Moon wants to jump-start the next week when it takes over on Monday, not realizing a lot of people are still trying to take it slow over Columbus Day weekend! Just be sure to take it easy on Monday afternoon as there could be some unpleasant surprises or power struggles from folks trying to have it their way, especially if driving.

Remember, keep your eyes on the road, your head in the stars and your feet on the ground!

Balancing Act: Autumnal Equinox & The New Moon in Libra

Welcome to the official start of Fall! The Sun moved out of the mutable Earth sign Virgo yesterday and into cardinal Air - Libra. As you may know, Virgo is an analytical sign that thrives on orderliness, whether in the home, office or intestines. Virgos strive for perfection while wanting to be helpful at the same time. When the Sun moves through this territory, we need to avoid letting criticism destroy any progress made, especially when directed at others.  Now that the solar energy has progressed from organization (Virgo), into the sign of balance (Libra), it's time to stop fretting over any unfinished or inconsequential details while we work with others to achieve harmony.

Venus, planetary energy of beauty, love and attraction, just moved into Libra, where she has ruler-ship and  will remain until Oct. 8th, lending a lovely air of refined enjoyment to the weeks ahead. Remember that Venus operates on the principles of attraction and receptivity so it is important to notice what it is you are attracting by the people and opportunities that appear now. How do they nurture you or help you to identify what you truly value?

Fairness, beauty and sociability are hallmarks of  Libran energy and this active Air sign will exert great effort  to improve their environment or maintain equilibrium. It is important for them to enlist the aid of partners and friends to achieve the desired outcome especially if their project affects others. The easy-going and diplomatic nature of Libra can mask an aggressive side if things aren't going their way and when this happens, the more refined side of Libra retreats while they try to tip the scales back into balance the way they see fit! This is not an issue for the more indecisive Librans who are afraid to upset the harmony around them and may miss the opportunity to make something happen.

With the Libran influence, there are always two points of view and it's important to listen to both sides of an issue. It is true that life can be like a seesaw, sometimes up, sometimes down, but Libra's job is to strive for and maintain that place of perfect balance found at the fulcrum. The difficult part is when we go back and forth getting first this viewpoint, then that one, over and over and not coming to some still point. When we get stuck there it is sometimes helpful to visit Libra's polarity, Aries and just "just do it" whatever 'it' is. We'll know real soon if we're headed in the right direction by the signs appearing in front of us; sometimes the momentum of making a decision is all we need to get us going again!

Monday finds us in a long void-of-course Moon phase as the Moon leaves Virgo for it's rendezvous on Tuesday with the Sun in Libra at the New Moon. Not the best way to begin a work week... on the dark side of the moon... a void-of-course moon... at the darkest time of the month... oh, what is a sentient being to do?! Why, lay low, of course, or finish things that need completing, or clean your desk, pantry or closets, for heavens' sake!! Whatever you do, don't ask anyone for anything new, or start a new project, or begin an important phase in a newish relationship or career goal.

Oh, and don't get too excited about the Libra New Moon bringing all kinds of harmony Tuesday because the planetary aspects only highlight the need for balance... it doesn't show up on our doorstep without "issues" just because we'd like it too! Sorry folks, but my usual upbeat Sagittarian nature also generates truth-seeking and looking at the bigger picture. So, while we have the month ahead to focus on relationships and partnerships, whether personal or otherwise, the first relationship we need to put into balance is with the Self.  Little self meet big Self... how do you do?! What is your role in the scheme of things? Are you listening to yourself, living your truth, sharing with others, going out into the world honestly and with integrity?

The Sabian Symbol for the New Moon at 5 degrees of Libra is "A Man Teaching The True Inner Knowledge of The New World to His Students". This symbol is filled with incredible meaning and I am going to offer you a link here to Lynda Hill's Sabian Symbols so that you may read about all that is involved at this New Moon and can plant your seeds accordingly.    The "issues" I was talking about on Tuesday, occur with some challenges to the Sun,(will, power, life-force) and Moon,(personality, subconscious, instinctual nature) in Libra from powerful Pluto, planet of transformation and also from Uranus, the planet of extremes and unexpected changes. Being as balanced and centered as you can be, beginning now, would be the best way to deal with the storms swirling around you. Some of these storms involve communication with loved ones or people you have agreements with. Between Tuesday and Wednesday, Mercury(communication and interacting) being very close to the Moon first opposes Uranus for off-the-wall ideas or sudden insights, then close to the Sun on Wednesday when he (Sun) squares off with Pluto for control of what you regard as your constitutional rights, pun intended. Watch out for the words coming out of your mouth if you're not ready to get into a power struggle over truth, justice and ... well, you know ... what you consider as your individual rights.

Strive for balance, play fair and cherish your relationships, while remembering to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground.

On This Harvest Moon~

The Full Moon occurs at 5:27am tomorrow - Monday, September 12th, with the Moon in the 20th degree of Pisces. As reinterpreted by Dane Rudhyar, the Sabian Symbol for this degree of the zodiac is a table set for an evening meal, which congers up the anticipation of meeting with others for nourishment. Further examination of this symbolism suggests fulfillment from the harvest of one's undertaking. There would be no Full Moon without it's dancing partner, the Sun, which finds itself opposite in the 20th degree of Virgo. The image here is a caravan of cars headed to the west coast implying a process whereby a group of persons link their consciousness and their energies to journey together and reach their goal.

While harvests speak to reaping the fruits of our labors which are past efforts, the table is set for a meal that is to be enjoyed with others in the evening, it's something to be looked forward to with anticipation. The caravan also is about moving forward, away from the past, in a concerted effort to reach a particular goal. This symbolism speaks volumes  about what is being illuminated and presented to us on planet earth at this Full Moon. What has your hard work brought you? Is the table set so you can enjoy an evening meal? Where have your efforts joined with others' to attain a particular outcome?

The Moon in this last, mutable sign of the zodiac is impressionable and prone to a heightened awareness of psychic or intuitive sensitivity. Often, people feel vulnerable as they connect more easily with the needs of others, sometimes losing sight of their own welfare. Spiritual insight is more readily attained when the Moon travels through Piscean waters and the feeling of wanting to withdraw from everyday activity is common. In times like we've been experiencing with the recent storm Irene and memories of past events on this date, nostalgia is rampant as feelings are stirred up.

Midway through a lunar cycle is the time for honest appraisal of our perspective on how well we have done since the New Moon two weeks earlier, which happened to be a Virgo New Moon at the time Irene bore down on the East coast. I have personally seen many examples of organized clean-ups since the storm hit Vermont, as well as some serious "over-thinking" and worries about the future of our resources. These are indeed Virgo themes, but I like to remind people that we all have our limits and sometimes, we just have to ask ourselves, is this something I can do anything about, or is it someone elses' territory? I'm a big believer in one foot in front of the other and a day at a time in the button factory!! Plan A and Plan B also help in unsettled times.

And now the Pisces Moon reflects our Oneness, our humanness as well as our Divinity. So, who have you gotten to know in your neighborhood or community recently, that you share something in common with? Amazing what you learn about people by doing a food drive, or sitting down to a long table set up on the town green for a meal together... or looking up the safest route for a caravan of vehicles to take supplies west. Pisces compassion aligned with Virgo refinement is all about adaptability and integrity. Being true to oneself while asking what you can do for another is an example of knowing we are all connected and still keeping healthy boundaries. We do indeed live in interesting times! Namaste~

Remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground!

A Merry-go-round... Really?! Virgo New Moon Sabian Symbol Says It All...

The New Moon occurs at 11:04 p.m. tonight at six degrees of the mutable Earth sign of Virgo. The Sabian Symbol for this degree, as classified by Marc Edmond Jones and Elsie Wheeler in 1925, is "A Merry-go-round". Tropical storm "Irene" has swirled a wide path round-and-about New England, having been downgraded from Hurricane status. The cyclic action implied speaks to the ups and downs of emotional life and the repetition of seeing/experiencing the same old thing.  The big question seems to be: where are you going in circles and what have you decided about getting off the merry-go-round?

As Virgo energy is about skill-building and discernment, I hope you have come to some self-knowledge of what isn't working and what you can do to break the cycle. The dizzying affect of a merry-go-round can be intoxicating to a child, but at some point, we all want to feel equilibrium. That's where our experiential momentum can lead us... when we've had enough of the same old stuff and know it's time to make a change, then we can grab for the brass ring! We have watched it time and time again as the wheel turned and have thought about our strategy over and over... time to go for it; whatever "it" is, don't you think you're ready to change the scenery?!

More Virgo themes have to do with diet and nutrition and how we take in and digest information literally and figuretively.  Also, orderliness and cleanliness, as in " a place for everything and everything in it's place". Maybe the winds and/or water has been the catalyst for cleaning things up? Virgo is a sign of mulling things over mentally  and is known for over-thinking things, especially when it comes to problematic issues. Try not to make mountains out of molehills and prioritize instead. "How important is it..." is a good approach for setting up your to-do list for the month ahead. It's a great time to initiate a health regime as well, especially one that includes herbs and vitamins or natural foods with less preservatives. Want to kick a bad habit, apply your focus now!

Another cosmic happening this week is giant Jupiter's retrograde motion on Tuesday.  Venus,(love, money and values) and Jupiter,(expansion and luck) are in harmony in Earth signs, Virgo and Taurus respectively, very early in the morning. This union supports being selective about where we place our valuables and/or, our affections. Almost immediately after this conjunction, Jupiter turns retrograde for the next four months, reminding us to be thrifty and not to increase our debt; Jupiter is after all in the fixed Earth sign of Taurus! We could expect gold prices to stabilize and banks to be trying hard to hold on to what they've got, which is what we all should be doing!

Libra Moon works hard on Tuesday to keep things in balance, but change and upheaval are the order of the evening, as Luna makes two tough aspects, first opposing unstable Uranus, then squaring off with destructive Pluto. The Moon continues to meet challenges on Wednesday as she interacts with constrictive Saturn, then belligerent Mars. Try to keep your thoughts under wraps and maintain the peace as the balance of power shifts for these two days - not an easy week!

Scorpio Moon comes in on Thursday afternoon, increasing the moodiness and/or creativity of joint endeavors. Scorpio has rulership over shared resources and anything we feel passionate about, so expect people to be guarded and possibly suspicious if you ask for something they aren't willing or able to share, unless you make an offer first, which they cannot refuse - just make sure it's a win/win situation for all involved!

Friday continues the theme of joint and shared values and resources under Scorpio Moon. The Sun in Virgo supports this theme as our outward energy is directed toward cooperating with Jupiter in Taurus, a similar affect as the Venus/Jupiter aspect mentioned above, but with much greater power! The Sun represents life-force and Jupiter expands whatever he comes into contact with, so watch out for exaggerated promises or the urge to do too much.

After an intense week, Sagittarius Moon helps to lighten the mood Saturday evening and makes it a good time to socialize with friends. Expect to meet some new people or encounter a new situation. Then, next Sunday, the First Quarter Moon may bring an obstacle of some sort that needs to be dealt with and I'm guessing that it will have to do with whatever health regime or schedule you mapped out for yourself at the New Moon, (today). As Sagittarius is future-directed and Virgo can't see the forest for the trees, remind yourself not to get caught up in persnickety details... find some balance and tweak those plans!

Here's something to read and sing along to that speaks to this New Moon's theme:
Spinning Wheel by Blood, Sweat and Tears

What goes up must come down [cowbell enters]
Spinnin' wheel got to go 'round [full drum kit enters]
Talkin' 'bout your troubles it's a cryin' sin
Ride a painted pony let the spinnin' wheel spin

You got no money and you got no home

Spinnin' wheel all alone
Talkin' 'bout your troubles and you never learn
Ride a painted pony let the spinnin' wheel turn

Did you find the directing sign on the

Straight and narrow highway
Would you mind a reflecting sign
Just let it shine within your mind
And show you the colors that are real

Someone is waiting just for you

Spinnin' wheel, spinnin' true
Drop all your troubles by the riverside
[1: Catch a painted pony on the spinning wheel ride]
[2: Ride a painted pony let the spinning wheel fly]

Remember, keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground!

Aquarius Full Moon Highlighting an Intense Week

The moon is exactly opposite the sun today at 2:57 p.m. meaning we have arrived at the Full Moon phase in this monthly dance between "the lights", illuminating where we have just come from and shedding light on the path ahead. The moon represents the subconscious while the sun represents the outward drive in life. That these two have reached the mid-point of their dance, the Moon in Aquarius and the Sun in Leo, in fixed signs of the zodiac, should show us where we are at in dealing with our "outward compliance and inward design".

OK, ok... so WHAT does that mean anyway?! For me, it means that I get to see if my plan for putting into action my passion(s) for moving ahead are proceeding along the path I intended. Aquarius is the fixed Air sign having to do with groups and friendships; who we surround ourselves with is important if we want to feel supported to reach our goals. Leo is the fixed Fire sign and has to do with our child-like creativity and enjoyment of life. This Full Moon can show us how well we're doing in these two areas of our lives, especially if we know where Leo/Aquarius is in our natal chart. Another way of saying this is, "are you having any fun yet?!"

This is going to surprise some of my regular readers who know how long-winded I can be, but that's all I want to say right now! Mull it over, meditate, dance under the light of the moon and get back to me tomorrow - I'll have more to say then!

In the meantime, remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground!

Behind The Eight-ball... Temperatures Rising... Looking For A Break...!?

Hello again - I have to tell you that before Mercury went retrograde on the second, I had already experienced a couple of communication snafus and mechanical breakdowns as well as finding little to no time to write down my thoughts on the upcoming transits, Leo New Moon or Mercury retrograde. Sooo, now that Mercury IS backtracking and just in time for he/she to re-enter Leo, I'm getting this Blog written!

A little reminder about Mercury retrograde: Mercury is the energetic "messenger of the gods" bringing communication from on-high, out there, whatever you choose to think of as the source of information. The ability to reason, be logical and gather information is from Mercury. How things fit together and how we interpret communication is also a Mercury function, therefore, when this 'first rock from the Sun' appears to be moving backwards, from our perspective on the 'third rock from the Sun', it is common to have misunderstandings and misinterpretations with others. Mercury retrograde periods occur three or four times a year and allow our brains to slow down and take a second look for re-examination, re-search, or re-view.

As Mercury is re-tracing its' steps and just now re-entering Leo, the fun-loving fiery sign of summer, it also opposes Neptune, symbolizing creativity, spiritual impressions and escapist tendencies. When communication (Mercury) and nebulousness (Neptune) are in direct opposition to one another, thoughts and words can become very alluring or really confusing! I suggest sitting down in meditation today and getting in touch with your inner knowing-ness. The insights you gain could be very valuable, especially as they relate to your associations with others and how engaging or stubborn you can be when it comes to interacting for a common purpose. Remember that you are looking for insight and don't allow yourself to become locked into any one way because you may have to change your mind in early September when Mercury has already been direct for awhile and moved back into Virgo. Virgo is the sign of exquisite detection and you'll know your answer by then!

The work week starts with a buoyant Sagittarian moon, in effect until Tuesday at 4:25p.m. Seeing the bigger picture and staying optimistic is easier under this adaptable Fire sign. This week is the lead-up to the Full Moon so some things have to be begun or decided, even if it is preliminary and involves a fact-finding committee who agree to put off the BIGGER decisions until early September. Try to keep your spirits up the rest of the week as the cosmos is about to serve up some walloping doses of  "how's that working for you now"?!

On Tuesday, aggressive Mars squares off with unstable Uranus. This energy has been in effect for several days already so you may have some hint of where things feel like they are about to erupt as this becomes exact at 12:34p.m. Do your level best to avoid angry, violent people and situations, including driving too fast or working with potentially explosive materials, sharp knives and/or electric devices. If you are feeling like you need to blow off some steam, try going to the beach and screaming into the wind, or stand in an empty field like a scarecrow suddenly come to life and swing your arms around yelling whatever wants to come out!  BTW... I would not be surprised if Mt. Etna or any other active volcano blew their top between now and the Full Moon on Saturday.

The Capricorn Moon comes in to take care of business for a mere 24 hours - between 4:38pm Tuesday and 4:34pm Wednesday, and oh, the things that need to be dealt with... One problem may be that whomever is in charge is not able to handle everything and meets "beaucoup" resistance on Wednesday. The best thing I can think of to say is remember what's important to you and don't compromise your values or be pressed into hasty action by outside pressures, which you can be sure there will be plenty of this week! If you're the boss, try not to issue edicts or serve up ultimatums, unless you're ready to work alone. This is not the time for button-pushing!

That impulsive planet Mars, pushing his way through watery Cancer, representing home and emotional well-being, jumps into action again on Thursday as he opposes transformational Pluto in the sign of Capricorn, ruling big business and government. Pluto is so far out in the solar system and has such an unusual orbit around the Sun, it's like a visitor from another galaxy whose intentions are to eliminate the old decaying structures so new growth can occur; the energy is always a process of disintegration, death and rebirth. Pluto is said to be the "higher octave" of Mars and I think that when these two planetary energies engage each other it's like the fiesty little kid on the playground standing up to the bully, knowing full-well he'll probably get his ass kicked but if he doesn't stand up to this threat nothing changes. Guess who throws the first punch?! We have already seen an example of this energy pattern in No. London in the last couple of days as the aspect becomes exact.

I'd like to think that Friday's Aquarius Moon brings a more reasonable approach to events of the past week and gives people new insight into how to break through old issues. Aquarian symbolism is inventive, intellectual and humanitarian, often best expressing itself through groups, rather than personally. When the Moon moves through this freedom-loving territory, individual rights and innovative ideas get the green light. The Full Moon on Saturday is in this Fixed Air sign of the zodiac, highlighting awareness and what is in the  the best interest of the community. How well we have done letting our little lights shine since the Leo New Moon on July 30th, will be reflected during this Full Moon. Look to read or hear about innovative ways of dealing with collective issues or new technologies that benefit communication at the week's end.

While you're keeping an open mind, remember to also keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground1

The Sun In Leo, Venus Into Leo & Mercury Into Virgo,Then A Leo New Moon

Yesterday the Sun entered it's rulership in the zodiac sign of Leo. If you know any Leo natives, you know they are fun-loving, courageous and willful. Take the lion's lead and they will show you an exciting time, but ask them to let you be the leader and you might as well retreat to the hills as they sound their mighty roar! This kind of strength and power is what the Sun's energy is all about - think of how far away the sun is from earth and how it warms us nonetheless. If you are fortunate enough to be loved by a Leo, count your blessings because standing within their circle of light will make you feel special.

The sign of Leo is elemental fire with the modus operandi of being fixed, which means that when the Sun is in Leo, we can experience the clash of strong egos, especially among leaders or heads of state. Watching a political drama play out is like observing two children who both want their way - neither wants to back down, but if both would give a little, they could find a creative way to have fun. It's that child-like response to life of   either "we'll do it my way" or "hey, let's do this..!". When good old Sol moves through this part of the sky, we want a playmate to have fun with and if that's not possible, we can muster up the strength to go it alone.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are under the influence of the Gemini Moon. As Gemini is an Air sign, this is a good time for writing down your ideas, thoughts or memories. It's also the time for communication and negotiation. If there's something important that needs to be agreed on however, wait until after 1:05p.m. Monday when the Moon is firmly in Gemini and not making a trying aspect to Neptune, which can lead to confusion. Tuesday is the best day of the week to continue a meeting or discussion with others and to really accomplish something work-wise.

There is an occultation of Mars by the Moon on Wednesday at 12:55 p.m. that's like an eclipse. It can add stress to your words and a sense of urgency, so no pushing allowed! This occulatation of Mars is only visible in Samoa, French Polynesia and the southern half of So. America, except for the very tip.  A few hours later, tbhe Sun harmonizes with Uranus for insight and new energy, so if there's something you need a fresh look at, Wednesday afternoon will provide you with all the right ingredients, especially if you have to ask a boss for their assistance.

Thursday has two big events as first Venus moves into Leo in the morning and Mercury enters Virgo in the early afternoon. So what does that mean for everyone? Well, Venus holds the planetary energy of beauty and love and it has to do with the power of attraction. Some of her symbolism is affection, friendship, pleasure, art and values. With this Goddess of Beauty in the fiery sign of Leo, things can heat up in the romance department or at the beauty parlor with new looks abounding as people give in to their self-indulgent tendencies. Remember all the attributes I talked about above, having to do with the Sun in Leo...?... well, with Venus here, it becomes more personal for the next month. Oh, it can also be that girls just want to have fun!!

As the Messenger of the Gods, as Mercury was know by long ago, moves into Virgo, one of the signs it rules, thinking becomes more directed toward specific ends. Mercury has to do with the intellect and reasoning and being in this analytical sign, it strengthens the mind's ability to learn and retain information. Just remember this, Mercury will retrograde on August 3rd, moving back into Leo on August 8th, so if you need to hammer out the details on anything before the retrograde cycle ends August 27th, get it done this week, otherwise, you'll be doing this in September when Mercury re-enters Virgo for the second time.

The Moon in Cancer is active on Thursday and void-of-course on Friday. There are more opportunities for emotional entanglements Thursday with the possibility of hurt feelings, especially after Mercury moves into Virgo and the Moon encounters Saturn that evening. It's all about "just the facts" and not about how anyone is feeling. If you can express yourself on Friday the impact will be less likely to do long-term damage. Being in tune to others' needs as well as your own will go a long way as the Moon is in it's darkest phase right now. Trust your gut and to know your own emotional priorities right now.

Saturday finds the Moon going to join the Sun for the Leo New Moon at 2:40p.m. EDT. This brings the inner and the outer together with a need for recognition and warmth and defines the tone of the month ahead. Appreciating loved ones, especially children, having fun and expressing your love are high on the list of things to do. Leo is dramatic energy so invite friends in for a game of charades or go see a play with your favorite niece or nephew - you're sure to enjoy yourself if you remember what it felt like to be a kid!

That's enough from me for now, but you ought to know that when the Sun moved into Leo Saturday, I joined friends for a night out, then went dancing in the street in Barnard VT - where I expected to see more friends than I did, but no matter. I had fun watching the kids swim in the waning moonlight while the teenagers danced with their girlfriends and boyfriends and the adults boogied and swayed to the delightful sounds of a kick-ass band. It was a magical night for a moon-dance indeed!

Until next time, remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground!

Full Moon In Capricorn and the Week Ahead

Coming off a week of sunshine and warmth like we've had in New England, has been wonderful and it looks like another warm week ahead with intermittent thundershowers. This typical summer weather makes it hard to focus on work, but that's what we must do with the present lunar energy! The Capricorn Full Moon highlights responsibility, whether in your career, to your job or to your family. Even though the Full Moon culminated early Friday morning, we are still in the "days of distribution" of its' energy.

The impact of this Full Moon may seem mild in comparison to the last two New Moons and earlier Full Moon on June 15th all being highlighted by eclipses! However, if we flesh out the symbolism of this current soli-lunar cycle and notice where the "Lights", as the Sun and Moon are called, are in the night sky, I feel the significance can be substantial. At this time of year, the Sun is highest in the sky, in the northern hemisphere, getting a lot of attention during the longer days, especially if spent at the beach... while the Moon is lower in the sky during the shorter summer nights.

With the Sun in watery Cancer, the focus is on emotional ties, particularly to home and family, with the added pre-occupation of keeping ones' feeling from being hurt during this emotionally vulnerable time. Like this zodiac sign's symbol, the Crab, Cancerians can appear to have a hard shell but they are actually hiding their sensitivity. Needing a safe and nurturing home is what we all want so that on a gut level, we feel secure. When the Sun and Moon are in opposition at this time of year, the Full Moon occurs in Capricorn - the sign opposite it's rulership, where it is said to be in it's debility. That sets up a dynamic of what I think of as "have-tos" and "want-tos". In other words, those things we must do first, like provide for our families and pay our bills, etc. in order to have the time and resources to do or have what we then want.

It's easy to see how the Capricorn Moon can feel like a stern parent when we just want to go to the beach! But hey, if you worked hard, you deserve to lie around or cook outside on the grill and enjoy the warmth of the longer days. So, just ask yourself these questions: "Am I doing all I can to take care of myself?" "Have I completed all the work I started, or am I at least making progress in that direction?" and one more... "Am I moving toward my goals?" If the answer to two out of three is 'yes', then you can safely take some time off to enjoy yourself, but... if you can't answer 'yes' to the first one, what do you need to do to take care of yourself? For some it'll be about job security, for others, it'll be about opening up and sharing their feelings, even though it may mean being vulnerable. In any event, try to be sensitive to your own and others' needs for the next two weeks, as the lunar cycle wanes and we follow through on the goals we set for ourselves at the July 1st  New Moon.

Looking ahead at the rest of this week, we are in one of those long void Moon phases today, Sunday, when it is best to go with the flow and not push our personal agendas quite so hard! The work week begins tomorrow with an intuitive Pisces Moon, active on both Monday and Tuesday, good for tuning in to underlying currents and paying attention to our compassionate sides. Another void-of-course moon phase occurs Wednesday morning when it is best to follow through on things, not initiating anything important until after the Moon enters Aries at 12:25 p.m. While an Aries Moon usually signals a beginning time, just know that Wednesday afternoon and Thursday are more about the little actions you can take to get your projects started and not any grandiose gestures! Midday Thursday is a balancing act between self and others, so know what you need to do and listen to what others say they need from you.

The Aries Moon is still active on Friday until 5:34pm, when it begins to travel void-of-course again. Let the momentum of what you have started or completed since Monday, close out your work week on a positive note. Early in the morning on Saturday, the Sun enters fiery Leo, where he feels right at home in his own regal throne on high! Leo is a fixed (stubborn...) sign which wants to shine his light on you, as long as the spotlight remains firmly on the Leo at center stage. If a Leo loves you, they have decided you are worthy of their many talents, so it's best to applaud, smile and nod, but only if you can do so sincerely - otherwise, you will hear their mighty roar as they show you to the door! Having fun in the sun is where the energy is at this time of year - enjoy it to the fullest next weekend as we begin a month under Leo sunbeams.

The Last Quarter Moon in Taurus occurs Saturday, bringing two fixed signs to an impasse (Leo Sun and Taurus Moon). Just decide whether to be agreeable and enjoy whatever you have and whomever you are with, or... that you'll be happier having some quality time with yourself to avoid feeling bullied into something, because whining won't do any good! I'm not saying to give up your principles or settle for less, but you can pick and choose your battles and who or what to spend your energy, money or time on.

In the meantime, remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground.

Preparing for The New Moon Solar Eclipse in Cancer

Leading up to the next New Moon Solar Eclipse on Friday, July 1st, we have a number of  planetary placements and interactions that make for an interesting week ahead.  Recapping... the Sun is in watery Cancer for the next few weeks, highlighting emotions, home and hearth and nurturing - often expressing itself in an indirect manner. We are also in the waning Moon phase between Last Quarter and New Moon, a time for following through on projects and preparing for the next new cycle.

OK, let's look at the energy of planet Mars pushing his way through airy Gemini for the next several weeks. Keep in mind that Gemini is a Mutable sign and is considered the only dualistic sign of the Zodiac. Geminis are versatile and inquisitive, and can be plastic and inconsistent without enough earth or fixed energy for ballast. Mars is a fire planet that jumps into action like the leader of the pack, waiting for no-one and taking no prisoners. The aggressiveness of Mars speaks to man's animal nature as well as the rashness of youth.

Now let's insert Mars energy into inquisitive Gemini and what do we get... there are many possibilities - most of them short-lived so let's get moving! Walking through your neighborhood and greeting your neighbors is one use of this energetic combination and putting some real effort into getting your ideas out of your head and onto paper is another. A Gemini I know just called, while I'm writing this... and wanted to share some ideas for a tattoo - having just discovered a tattoo parlor in their new neighborhood! Now that is also Mars (pointed, sharp objects...) in Gemini (expressions in ink...)!! Not my idea, but theirs and it's another possibility that combines a bit of pain and blood with self-expression... also Mars in Gemini.

The cautions here are blurting out words in anger or haste that you may have to take back later. Best to keep some kind of filter on so not every stray thought is spoken aloud. Perhaps a personal journal in which to record one's frustrations would work and that saves loads of apologies later and can also be discarded when you no longer need the outlet. Another thing to watch out for is jumping into too many projects or social engagements at once, saying 'yes' to this one and 'yes' to that one and having to back out of a commitment at the last moment. It's just as easy to say, "I'm sorry, I'm busy then." or "I have too much going on right now to take on one more thing, maybe another time."

Today's Taurus Moon is active until 12:24 p. m. Monday, giving us a great time to relax and enjoy nature. The only difficulty is after that when the Moon becomes inactive on the first workday of the week. As long as you can say you need some more time to work on it, think about it, polish it up... you'll end up with less frustration from trying to make something happen when the time isn't right. Tuesday brings the annual Sun/Pluto opposition from Cancer to Capricorn, perhaps bringing hidden feelings about safety or security to the surface to be discussed or dealt with. Go easy with each other, especially family members who may need your emotional support now. If something has been breaking down for awhile, it may reach it's breaking point this week. Issues of safety, power, control and change will be on the table.

The New Moon Solar Eclipse takes place just before dawn on Friday, July 1st, with both the Sun and Moon coming together in Cancer for a month's focus on your home, emotions and how you care for and nurture yourself and others. This is definitely the time to feel your feelings and allow your imagination free reign within the safe confines of your mind, your home or your family. Like it's symbol, the crab, Cancer is a self-protective sign and Cancerians are often evasive about their emotional needs.  Realize that the energy going out for the next six months, due to the eclipse, will be profoundly affected by whatever feelings have come to the surface around the time of the eclipse, and whatever you begin while the Sun is in Cancer, (until the next new Moon in Leo), needs to focus on the security of your home and your emotional well-being.

Until next time, remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground!

Summer Solstice and The New Moon Solar Eclipse in Cancer

Welcome to summer, or at least New England's version of it - hot and dry one minute, overcast and raining with a chance of thundershowers the next. I'm no astrometeorologist, but I do follow Carolyn Egan's work with the weather and if you're interested in astrometeorology, click here to be directed  to her site. I have had the pleasure of attending several of Carolyn's lectures and find her to be very astute at what she does.

The Summer Solstice occurred on the 21st, when the Sun entered the cardinal water sign of Cancer. This nurturing sign begins the summer season which is followed by fixed Leo, when the Sun really shines and everyone wants to go on vacation, until mutable Virgo winds up the summer by harvesting herbs and vegetables from our gardens. Every season starts with a Cardinal sign that likes to be in charge of something, followed by a Fixed sign that wants to maintain it's status quo and ends up with a Mutable sign for adaptation before the next season arrives.

The mothering energy of Cancer and the emotions evoked when the Sun is in this sign can be both nurturing and unsettling due to dealing with life emotionally rather than intellectually. Cancerian people want to be in charge of their nest and can feel wounded if they feel their security is being challenged. This is a good time to consider the feelings of your nearest and dearest so as not to cause them to retreat to their inner sanctums where they may feel more secure. Cookouts are in full-swing when the emphasis is on the stomach as it is in this sign ruling the stomach and breasts.

Tomorrow's installment will be on the New Moon occurring July 1st as the Moon joins the Sun in Cancer, bringing us yet another Eclipse.

Remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground!

First Quarter To Full Moon And Everything Inbetween!

Apropos of a First Quarter Moon, which happened on Wednesday, I've been busy this week working on better methods of communicating, beginning with a new cell phone and switching all my email contacts from one provider to another. This month's solar eclipse in Gemini, the sign of communication, which happens to rule my seventh house of others, planted the seed for increased connections with people. However, if I was out of touch with you, when you thought I ought not to be... we can chalk it up to the demise of my cell phone and having to switch to a new email provider.

The First Quarter Moon in Virgo brought up the challenge of how to organize our thoughts and our lives with our out-going energies. Was it difficult getting things moving in the direction you wanted them to go since the New Moon... did you have to face facts and make a necessary change in order to move along without the encumbrances of the past? Good for you if you made the necessary adjustments! If you didn't overcome your obstacle(s), expect to be dealing with them throughout the remainder of this lunar phase and be kind to yourself as you deal with the increasing energy leading up to the Full Moon next week.

Venus, Goddess of love, beauty and gentle persuasion, entered sociable Gemini Thursday where she'll stay for the next month. The power to create cohesive bonds is possible through art, inspiring words and the enjoyment of music and other festivities. Harmony, balance, friendship and appreciation are all keynotes of Venus' planetary attributes which can be expressed with friends, siblings or co-workers. Feminine energy is highlighted and whether a man or a woman, you can get more in touch with your own needs for pleasure, harmony and an aesthetic environment. Just watch out for Venus' tendency to overindulge, especially if it's bending a friend's ear with all of your needs and not listening to theirs'.

The planet Saturn, storing the energies of discipline, responsibility and limitation, is about to turn stationary direct late Sunday night. If you've been feeling held-back from career or business goals in the last several months, now is the time to re-focus your resources and call up the reserves to begin to manifest what you are seeking. In other words, where you direct your time and attention is where you will begin to see results probably mid to late September. So roll up those sleeves and apply yourself to what you want! Another thing to remember about Saturnine energy is that things take time... so, patience, diligence and discipline while keeping your eyes on the goal!

Sunday and Monday are under the sway of a Scorpio Moon, which is about passion and secrets, tending to bring out suspicions and jealousy. People feel quite intense with these energies and often wonder, if I give a little bit of myself or my resources, will they try to take more?!  There may be a lot of discussing of shared values Sunday night between siblings or friends, in person or over the phone. Whatever the topic, you can be fairly certain it'll be a deep discussion and someone may be feeling moody. Try to avoid getting sucked into negativity and aim for what will work, not what hasn't!

The Moon becomes VOC (void-of-course) on Monday at 1:43 p.m. and doesn't enter upbeat Sagittarius until 10:38 p.m. where it will stay for the next two days. This is Jupiter's territory... optimistic, out-going, storytelling and hard to pin down! Sagittarius sees the bigger picture and wants to move forward not backwards, making this a perfect time for long-range goal setting, vacation planning or looking at ways to expand both your spiritual and physical horizons.

While Luna is still in fiery Sagittarius Tuesday, you can accomplish a lot toward the goals you set for the month at the New Moon. Be careful not to fritter away your time talking about inconsequential topics that morning or you may be playing catch-up all day! This forward-thinking energy works brilliantly with Saturn's about-face in Libra, making it possible to work well in tandem, particularly in the late afternoon on Tuesday. All this expansiveness bodes well for Wednesday's Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 4:14 p.m. when the Sagittarius/Gemini polarity is illuminated and eclipsed at the same time!

The Full Moon phase of the lunar cycle highlights our out-going efforts since the New Moon two weeks earlier. The affect of a full moon on us humans, is that of an opposition between the inner self and the outer world. In this case, the polarity is between Gemini and Sagittarius, bringing our interaction with our smaller circle(s) into focus with the larger world. You might say it illuminates what we say and how we interact with those closest to us in our everyday life by projecting it onto the larger world stage.

A Lunar Eclipse occurs when the Full Moon is behind the Earth as it lines up with the Sun, preventing the Sun's light from reaching the Moon. I like to think of Lunar Eclipses as having an effect on us personally through our feelings about ourselves and our relationships. When the light goes out, so-to-speak, we have an opportunity to reflect on our progress with self-growth, change, whatever... as we get ready to let our light shine out in the world. Meditations, alone or in small groups, are desirable for focusing one's intentions for moving forward. It's a great time to be honest with ourselves about where we are headed!

As always, remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground!

New Moon Solar Eclipse in Gemini

The dark side of this last moon phase has seemed to be especially trying for some and relaxing for others who took advantage of the Taurean energy Sunday and Monday to just enjoy themselves! Today's Gemini Moon harmonized early this morning with Uranus to perhaps bring insight to a difficult communication issue, so pay attention to your hunches and thoughts that seemed to appear out of the blue.

The Sun, also being in Gemini, interacts with saturnine Saturn pressing us to be versatile and succinct with any necessary verbal or written interactions today. Just make sure you take care of business and get things accomplished - what do you need to write, say or do to tie up some loose end? Later this afternoon, the Moon makes this same aspect to Saturn before joining with the Sun at 5:03 p.m. for the New Moon, beginning a new lunar cycle for the month ahead.

The Moon coming together with the Sun in Gemini heralds a month of sociability, adaptability and versatility, possibly making it hard to be pinned down to one point of view. A little of this... a little of that...what's a rational, thinking person to do...?! Well, one thing is to try something new when you're feeling restless, something that challenges your mind and gets you thinking. Try writing your ideas or goals, insights or dreams in a journal. Gemini not only rules the lungs, but the shoulders, arms and hands as well and the simple act of writing can help solidify your thoughts. Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and as the "messenger of the gods", he may be bringing you an important piece of information... if you're listening.

Today's Solar Eclipse is the first of three eclipses within a month... June 1st, June 15th and July 1st! Wow... that's a lot of energy to grab hold of and put to good use for the next several months. If an eclipse degree aspects a personal point in your natal chart, it can have a significant affect on your life for the next six months; certainly wherever it occurs in your natal chart will see some activity. But, one eclipse at a time and this first one is a Solar Eclipse at 11 degrees of Gemini, emphasizing communication and interacting with your higher self, then others. Eclipses don't always seem to have a personal affect, but expect to hear a lot in the media, on the news, and in your social networking platforms in the month ahead.

Tomorrow brings Mercury's move into the sign it rules - Gemini, where he will reside for only two weeks, cruising through here at about two degrees a day! The waxing Moon phase is going to be quite busy as invitations, offers and choices swirl about us for the next two weeks... ponder, meditate and write it down for clarity. This is a great time to use your intellect and express your thoughts or figure out something that has been puzzling you. When Mercury leaves it's home territory for the emotional waters of Cancer the day after the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in two weeks, you may not feel like talking about it.

Friday is an interesting mix of the moody Cancer Moon at first harmonizing with Jupiter and Neptune in the morning for  compassionate understanding and meditative insight, but then something throws us for a loop at noon. Try to be flexible and go with the flow. Later, the Moon makes challenging aspects with both Pluto and Saturn causing you to wonder who is holding all the cards and what did you do to tick them off...?! The evening may be better spent alone, getting some things accomplished, as your emotional reserves will probably be low. If you have to work or engage with others, be gentle with yourself and everyone you encounter. The Course in Miracles reminds me that "an attack is a cry for love".

The weekend has Cancer Moon in effect until Sunday at 11:03 a.m. when it enters sunny Leo territory. Spend Saturday getting things done around the house and maybe having a barbecue that afternoon or evening. Plan to have fun with children or remember what it was like to be a kid on Sunday afternoon. People are warm, dramatic and creative under the Leo influence; just avoid being dogmatic or snobby to get things to go your way.

As always, remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground!

Slowing Down During the Darkest Phase of The Moon

Today's Taurus Moon allows us the time and energy to re-group while the Moon is decreasing in light and our energy wanes as well. This is a perfect time to enjoy the long holiday weekend and do some relaxing. Whether it's a barbecue with friends or family, the emphasis is on nature and gardens, as well as preserving the status quo when it comes to finances. In other words, enjoy the simple pleasures life has to offer.

The planetary symbolism of Venus, ruler of Taurus, is beauty. Look around you and notice the lush greens and mixed colors of Springtime. If you don't have a garden or live near a lilac bush, consider visiting a local florist or market and bringing home a bouquet of flowers to enhance the beauty in your living room or kitchen. Just appreciating nature is what the next two days are all about... that and taking it slow!

About the dark phase of the Moon... we are in the Last Quarter Phase, which can be broken down even further into what is known as the Balsamic Phase, when the waning Crescent Moon is getting smaller and smaller until we come back to a New Moon phase. The illumination of the Full Moon is past and the last Quarter has hopefully opened our eyes to what we need to take care of in preparation for the next cycle. Now is not the time to begin anything new! It is however the time to wind down, finish up and store your energies, resources, and ideas for the New Moon Solar Eclipse which will be occurring on the evening of June first.

I am working to replenish my personal reserves of energy, whether time or money, while carving out moments of peace and relaxation before the Gemini onslaught of information, sociability and new ideas starts the next Lunar cycle. So... as short as this is, I am taking my own advice today but I'll have a lot to say in a few days!

Until then, remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground!

Curiouser and Curiouser... Foggier and Foggier... and Then Illumination!

Just when we were beginning to get a handle on all the action taking place all around us, the Sun moved into Gemini on the 21st and suddenly we seem to have more options than before for socializing and inquiry.  I was on a crowded, noisy boat headed home to give a workshop and a talk, which, as it turned out, was the least well-attended of any I've given in 8 years due to picking a day when people had too many options to choose from!  Then yesterday the Sun, newly arrived in Gemini, immediately squared Neptune and we soon realized that we're in foggy waters and aren't sure which way to plot our course! (Actually there was a three-masted schooner coming into the harbor which went aground in shallow water, due to the fog and I got to drive onto the beach with a friend yesterday to see it and snap a few photos.)

The good news, now that the Sun is in adaptable Gemini, is that we have options and the trick with it starting off challenged by nebulous Neptune, is to decipher which path will lead us in the direction we want to move in. Don't despair, because the distractions may be plenty but the insight can be far more revealing if we allow ourselves the time to tune in. I hope you got some real "down time" yesterday to think your thoughts and feel your feelings. The mutable Air sign of Gemini is versatile, inquisitive, talkative and can also be restless, superficial and inconsistent. It IS the sign of duality and if you know a Gemini you know how they can be one... and then be the other... at the slightest shift of the wind! Admit it - it's what you like about them at the times when you want to influence them and dislike when you need them to be less skittish!

Today we have receptive Venus (attraction) joining up with out-going Mars (desire) in earthy Taurus bringing the opportunity for strong love connections if you have a partner or are trying to stabilize a new relationship. If not, the focus is probably on getting those you share similar values with to help support your efforts at stabilizing your financial picture. How can you engage someone to join with you in a way that benefits all? This is one of those times when you truly can catch more flies with honey than vinegar!

As the Sun, representing the will and vital life-force, moves through the zodiac sign of Gemini for this month ahead it will contact all the planets at different times and in different ways. Use this Gemini versatility to share your ideas with co-workers, neighbors, siblings or any other people you are in contact with through the written or spoken word. Writing projects and journaling can get a real boost now. It's also a good time to communicate what you may have held on to while the Sun traversed it's way through Taurus. Time to let go of anything you now know doesn't fit in with what you planted in your garden of personal needs last month.

When the Gemini Sun is squared by the Pisces Moon tomorrow, May 24th, it signals the Last Quarter phase and the time in the lunar cycle when we can be illuminated with what this cycle has meant as it draws to a close and we prepare for the new phase at the next New Moon on June 1st. It can bring a crisis in consciousness if we realize we need to do something differently to complete this cycle and leave the past behind. It is best to wait until after the New Moon to begin any new job, project, etc. and just follow through and tie up loose ends for the week ahead.

Early in the wee hours of the morning on the 25th, 2:48a.m./EST to be exact, we get an influx of inspiration and new ideas as the Sun in Gemini joins in a favorable aspect with Uranus in Aries, both in Air signs. Uranus represents the planetary energy of freedom from constraint and brings with it sudden changes that destroy the old to make way for the new. You're ready for a change and you know it!! Expect lots of inventive ideas and inspiration that may come like a bolt out of the blue to give you the answers you've been seeking for a way out of a restrictive situation, dead-end relationship or an agreement that has out-lived it's usefulness.

There is another planetary aspect to take into account here and that's a tentative inconjunct from Mars in Taurus to Saturn in Libra - find a way to be considerate of others without compromising your own values in the process. You can deliver the news about your decision after you have tied up all the loose ends for yourself, but wait until sometime after the June 1st New Moon to instigate any new plans or agreements. Out with the old this week and in with the new next!

Thursday is like a free-day to go with the flow and focus your attention inward, due to the Moon being void-of-course, waiting to leave Pisces and enter Aries at 8:36p.m. As long you don't expect certain results or set up new parameters for jobs, relationships or projects, you ought to be fine, but if you try to make things happen in a certain way, you could experience a great deal of frustration as your efforts fall to naught. Remain flexible and enjoy what the day may bring you!

Aries Moon dominates Friday and Saturday making the last workday of the week a challenge if you push your own agenda too hard. Saturday brings no major planetary activity and is a great day to move about and get things done! Sunday may find you wanting coffee and the paper early as Jupiter is joined by the Sun to jump out of bed around 6:30, but then things slow down as dreamy Neptune gets in the picture shortly after the Sun enters Taurus at 9:02 a.m. Intense feelings may come to the forefront Sunday night as you deal with the end of one thing and anticipate the birth of something new. Many people will be enjoying a long holiday weekend, extending into Monday, which looks to bring pleasant weather, at least cosmically.

A Scorpio Full Moon and Expressions of Beauty & Love

Happy Full Moon~

My laptop has been repaired and, at last, I am back to work - I couldn't be happier right now!! Here are the highlights for today and the week ahead with just a minor review of the energies that got us here over the last couple of days.

Sunday, May 15th, saw both Mercury and Venus ingress into Taurus, the fixed-earth sign of the zodiac where the New Moon took place on May 3rd. Taurus is all about nature, beauty, practicality, the coin of the realm, gardens and the goddess. OK... for all you left-brained people reading this, that means money, resources and love!! Venus is at home, quite literally, in this sign which she rules, influencing how we make our money, attract others and use our powers of persuasion to get what we want. Now that she's at home, Venus wants to know what we're putting aside for a rainy day, also how we're taking care for our bodies, as well as Mother Earth, and what we are doing to create harmony and beauty around us!

Perceptive Mercury entering Taurus, brings an airy quality to the earth realm, and having just traveled back and forth through Aries since March 10th, might be ready to slow down while gathering information to interpret facts and find a reasonable way to communicate. The adaptability of this spokesperson between mind and spirit, helps us understand ourselves and our relationships with more clarity as long as we speak, write or otherwise share the message. Mercury will defer to Venus' authority here and can be clever, versatile and reflective while moving through Taurus and collecting the facts.

Yesterday, Mercury and Venus joined in supporting Neptune to enhance the intuition and keep us on the path of caring and kind words. Working together these three planetary energies combine the sensual practicality of Taurus with the flowing intuitiveness of Pisces to imagine the possibilities for comfort and beauty in our surroundings. Take advantage of this creative liaison which lasts into the first week of June to re-envision the rough spots in your home or garden and how you can beautify them!

Today's Full Moon in Scorpio is also known as the Wesak Moon and celebrates the birth and enlightenment of Buddha as the expression of the Wisdom of God, the embodiment of light and the indicator of divine purpose. http://www.wesak.us/articles.  The Sabian Symbol at 27 degrees of Scorpio is: A Military Band Marches Noisily, and according to Dane Rudhyar, indicates "the aggressive glorification of cultural values."

I want to speak to the symbolism of both the Wesak celebration of the Buddha as the most powerful Full Moon of the year and the Sabian Symbol of a noisy marching band and how they are both apropos to this time. Chanting and meditation are ways in which Wesak is celebrated and marching and drumming are elements of a military parade which brings out pride and excitement binding a community together in its' collective ability to impress. We are celebrating the return of Spring and the renewal of all that the earth has to offer and shortly, we'll be honoring our military forces with Memorial Day parades and celebrations. Whether chanting aloud or marching to a drum beat you can honor and celebrate this season of renewal by being attuned to the earth and maintaining your sense of stewardship for all her gifts and inhabitants.

As I already mentioned above, Venus has ruler-ship over Taurus and that's where the Sun is in opposition to the Moon, at this Full Moon. What you may not know, is that the Moon is also exalted in Taurus and May is Mother Mary's month, bringing even more Mother energy to the earth now. What a time of enlightenment is upon us for the next three days as the Full Moon energy pours down on mother earth! Definitely take some time to sit under a tree or in a garden and meditate on all that the earth has to offer you, ask for an enlightened understanding of your purpose here and how to co-creatively work with another (Scorpio) and... be thankful for whatever blessings you already have.

If you are fortunate enough to have children in your daily life perhaps you could consider giving them capes, hats, flutes and drums and lead them in a parade around your yard to celebrate the renewal of life as they gain a new awareness for the sacredness of our collective efforts to protect and maintain that which nourishes us. An appreciation of all life and the earth's beauty can be realized every day, if we but stop and smell the lilacs at the gates of the cemetery to honor the dead or plant the seeds for our gardens to sustain us during the harsher months.

As the Moon moves into Sagittarius early this afternoon, we can look forward to setting goals that help us plan in the long-range and then tonight Luna makes a harmonious connection to Neptune, further setting the stage for insight and enlightenment to stream down on your meditation. Whether alone or in a group, tonight is a great time to open up and ask for spiritual guidance. May you truly receive the abundant blessings of this Full Moon over the next couple of days and use these gifts to move forward in peace and harmony!

Remember, keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground~

Sustainability, Random Acts of Kindness & Senseless Acts of Beauty

Welcome to the New Moon in Taurus! Very early this morning, the Moon joined the Sun in this fixed earth sign of the zodiac. When the focus is here, we tend toward practicality and slowing down to take stock of our finances and gardens and anything else that needs tender, loving care to grow and sustain us. The Taurus New Moon sets the stage for the month ahead as a time of hard work and enjoyment.

The mundane nature of this fixed sign speaks to the gifts of the earth and how we utilize what's been given to us and what we can claim ownership of, as well as how we use what we have, to bring beauty and harmony into our daily lives. Taurus attributes are loyalty, patience and perseverance, but when afflicted, can become stubbornness, self-indulgence and possessiveness!

There are many ways to enjoy the gifts of Mother Earth and all her beauty. Visit an art gallery, plant a garden, fashion something out of clay or paint a macaroni necklace with the kids!! You can beautify your body or your home with fresh cut flowers, that seldom-worn bracelet or gem-stone earrings or by changing your sheets to something new and colorful. Supporting your local Farmers' Markets or buying a community share in a CSA project are other ways to build sustainability and help support your community.

Supporting and using the resources you have is a Taurean virtue, incorporating loyalty and practicality to sustain what is important. This is also the sign of money, resources and belongings and when the Moon is traveling through this sign and/or the Sun is here, it is wise to adhere to the old saying... "neither a borrower nor a lender be..." Banks do not want to share their (your..) money just now!

Venus, goddess of beauty and love is the ruler of Taurus and she knows how to tend her gardens and care for herself. A little pampering to soothe body and soul will go a long way now; the same holds true in your garden where a little extra weeding will show off the magnificent flowers blooming forth. If you have too much Venusian influence, there's a tendency to self-indulgence, stubbornness or pride. Too much self-reliance can keep one from asking for help when we need it.

Taurus rules the throat, so singing and speaking are aspects that get attention this month. Go ahead and join that choir, band or sing louder in the car! Do you need to speak your piece/peace... which is it... piece of mind or peace to restore harmony...?! Stop swallowing your pride or self-doubt and just find a way to express what needs to be said. There are ways to talk about what's important to you and still show consideration for others without expectation of how they will react or treat you. Understand that they have their own needs and wants and aren't there just to please you. State your feelings and avoid expectations.

The Sabian Symbol for thirteen degrees of Taurus, the New Moon point, is " a porter carrying heavy baggage". Dane Rudhyar says that this symbol speaks to self-mobilization for social advantage and there is within it a compulsion for gain. The questions here are: "What burdens am I carrying? Is this all my burden or is it partly someone else's? Am I expecting someone else to carry my burden for me?"  The porter in this image speaks to having someone to load our baggage down with. Is there some way to lighten our own or someone else's load? At any rate, we don't need to add to another's burdens or let others burden us unduly.

We are in the throes of another long void-of-course (VOC) Moon period lasting until Wednedsay at 1:09 p.m. when the Moon moves into Gemini, staying in that adaptable, talkative sign until Friday afternoon at 4:12p.m. So... ready yourself today by finishing up what is important or has been hanging over your head and tidy up your studio, office, yard or house. Then, when the Gemini Moon takes over, get busy with plans, phone calls and any communication or errands that need to get done to help secure your stability in the world.

Late Friday, Saturday and Sunday finds the Cancer Moon directing things, especially our emotions, and affecting home and hearth. One way we tend to nurture ourselves is with food and a way to include others is by inviting family and/or friends over for a cookout or pot-luck. With the self-indulgent background of Taurus this month, make sure you're not over-doing efforts to try and keep the peace by stuffing your feelings with food, or taking them out in waterworks on un-suspecting family members!

You are probably not the only one on the ropes this week. Try and maintain balance by creating as much harmony and beauty around you, first by instilling a peacefulness within yourself, then radiating it outward through random acts of kindness and senseless acts of beauty. A little will go a long way and last all month long!

Remember, keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground~
