Expansion, Networking & Communication with Leo Full Moon, Aquarius Sun & Jupiter in Gemini~

Needing more JOY in your life?! Harness some of today's Leo Full Moon energy to play a little more, express your creativity or enjoy a special weekend with your loved one(s). The Moon moved into Leo this morning, after an 18 hour VOC period that began yesterday with an inactive Moon in Cancer. You may have noticed just having to go with the flow because your afternoon and evening didn't go the way you had hoped. That is what happens when the Moon makes its' last aspect to another planet, before leaving one zodiac sign and moving into the next. Now you have a green light for making some fun plans for the rest of your weekend as Leo Moon opposes the Sun in Aquarius at 11:38pm tonight.

Let's not forget the Sun in Aquarius opposing that Moon, as it provides the necessary polarity of this lunar phase. When Aquarian energy is present, so is inventiveness, genius and revolutionary thinking, which is best expressed through group dynamics. While a person born under this Fixed Air sign can be a very unique individual, their outgoing and friendly nature can shine when connecting with others, especially in human rights organizations, philanthropic endeavors and by disseminating cutting-edge information.

Some of you may think of Aquarius as being a Water sign, because of it's symbolism as "the water bearer". However, it is indeed an Air sign, whose glyph of two wavy lines, one above another, represents the flow of energy, knowledge or information they have collected for distribution to the collective. Expect new ideas or solutions to old problems; it often takes fresh insight and someone willing to think outside the box to come up with unique ways of dealing with issues that have bogged us down. The free flow of ideas and exchange of insights receives even more juice when brainstorming in a group. Sometimes an individual may have an original idea that they don't share because they think it is too out there, but the  perspective of others can allow them to express themselves through the process of communication which then brings a more balanced approach to a new solution.

Speaking of communication, astrological pun inferred ... giant Jupiter is about to go Direct on the 30th in Mutable Gemini, after a four month retrograde. This is good news for everyone who is studying, planning an event, needing to communicate something or just make new connections. Again, adaptability and curiosity are keywords of Gemini, but changing one's mind too much could be a detriment here, also, avoid gossip and hearsay. My rule of thumb (for Jupiter in Gemini), is to gather information, do an outline of what you want to say, check your information for validity and coherence, then write, say or otherwise share your thoughts. Writers take note - you have until June 25th to tweak those chapters in your book, after that, Jupiter enters the watery Cardinal sign of Cancer and the focus shifts entirely!

This is a great time of year to make new acquaintances and get involved in group activities, especially with those people of like-mind or similar goals. However, that is not to imply that you need to follow a similar path to anyone else or even repeat your own steps. It is the conscious connecting to sources of new information that will increase awareness and elevate the collective consciousness.  If you have a friend you'd like to get to know better, perhaps you could suggest joining a class together to explore spiritual growth or learn some computer techniques. Whatever you focus on with the Sun in Aquarius and Jupiter in Gemini can increase understanding and enhance your relationships on many levels. Reach out, touch someone with your interest, share ideas and explore new territory.

and remember... while keeping your head in the stars, to also keep your feet on the ground!

First Quarter Moon And The Sun & Mercury In Aquarius

Yesterday's First Quarter Moon, a square to the Sun at the tail end of Aries/Capricorn, signifies the beginning of this month's second Lunar phase. Obstacles may appear which get in the way of the developing growth of seeds you planted at the New Moon one week ago. Whatever you need to remove from your path, to achieve your Capricorn goal(s), needs to be released in order to  make use of the Full Moon's energy in a week. This is often a crucial time of the month when issues are in your face that require you to let go of the past in order to set up new growth, otherwise you risk repeating old patterns for the rest of this lunar cycle! Look honestly at what is holding you back or causing a delay, then release your part in it and get ready for the Aquarian shift as new associations can help you reach your goals.

First Mercury, that quick-footed messenger of the gods, then the Sun, giver of life and vitality, move into the fixed air sign, Aquarius today. Guess who is more comfortable in this cold, inventive sign...?! That's right, Mercury, with his powers of mental fluidity, has an affinity in this logical sign ruled by revolutionary Uranus. The Sun in this sign of his polar opposite, seeks the warmth of his natural domain in sunny Leo, yet no matter how much he shines here, cannot quite achieve the personal connection he desires in this logical, unconventional sign!

Mercury remains in Aquarius until February 6th, helping people brainstorm new ideas in committees and humanitarian groups of all sorts. Inventive and often unconventional answers can arrive from this detached purveyor of unique ways of looking at things.  Aquarius may come across as aloof when addressing problems with logic instead of emotion. In reality, this is a very caring sign, preferring to put emotions aside for the greater good. Think Spock on Star Trek and how logical he was.

The Sun's annual transit through Aquarius starts today and lasts through February 18th. In this month, there will be opportunities for meeting new people with fresh ideas. If you have struggling with the answer to an old issue, you may want to seek another way of looking at things. Going round and round in the same old rut won't bring you the insight you need. Invention and innovation are attributes of this independent and revolutionary eleventh sign of the zodiac. Aquarius has an affinity for networking, the web, friends and associations, so get out there and explore the airwaves!

Remember, keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground!

Capricorn New Moon

You can start to plant new business and/or career seeds in the next couple of days as Luna aligns with the solar energy of this Cardinal Earth sign at the New Moon today. Setting up a month-long plan now is a really good idea. Take the time to sit down and make a 5 or 10 point list of things you want to accomplish in the coming weeks. I encourage you to do a New Moon wishlist every month, and especially today, because this is the start of the year and the time when your focused energy can be very effective at bringing positive results in the months ahead!

The Moon in Capricorn feels better when functioning within guidelines. So think, "OK, today I have to do this and this, then tomorrow, that..." As long as you take care of first things first, whatever the priorities are - job, business, health, home or studies, then you'll feel better and will be able to move on to the next task at hand. The Moon feels more comfortable in Cancer, the watery sign which it rules, but here in Capricorn, feelings and emotions need to be held in check and expressed in a constructive way that benefits everyone. Acknowledge your feelings and take responsibility for them, but be patient in knowing when to express yourself and with whom. With Venus (love and/or money) and Jupiter (expansive optimism) both currently interacting with Uranus, planetary purveyor of extremes... it is wise not to react too quickly or overreact to sudden triggers from your environment. We want to build bridges, not burn them.

Saturn as the ruler of Capricorn, reminds us that focus, responsibility and perseverance are the attributes to cultivate now and while the Moon waxes up until the Full Moon on Saturday, January 26th. Not that you'll stop working or back off any on your efforts after the Full Moon, but the next two weeks are the time to increase your efficiency and apply extra elbow grease to what you want to achieve. Remember also, that the Sun is life force and energy, which needs to be used wisely, even conservatively when in this zodiac sign. So work hard, rest and replenish your resources when necessary, whether food or finances, and for most of us, that means hard work comes first!

Let's look at where Saturn is again, since he is the one pulling the strings behind the scenes. Saturn is in Scorpio for the next couple of years, this deeply emotional sign of co-creation, jealousy and joint finances. It is best to look at your suspicions as things of the past and to let them go in order to live in the present. And while you're at it, let your secrets out too, as they serve no positive purpose and can only sabotage your efforts to reach your goals. Now, you don't have to run out and tell everyone, everything... be discreet in who it is safe to tell what to - no sense in ruining any more relationships! If, on the other hand, you've held back from telling your significant other or business partner something they need to know to enhance the partnership, then it is time to screw up your courage and do it. Letting go of shame, guilt or remorse will help you build new and better foundations.

The week ahead sees the temptation of Venus's normally gentle persuasiveness to become overly demanding, self-indulgent or self-destructive when she aligns first with revolutionary Uranus on Saturday (leave the checkbook and credit cards at home...) and then on Wednesday when she joins Pluto. Any planet aligned with Pluto, especially one so receptive as Venus stands to be overshadowed with self-doubt and feelings of doom. The danger here is that Venus can be irresponsible and vain, even lazy, as she indulges her obsessive nature in harmful self-sabotage. Turn that around by harnessing Pluto's transformative powers of catharsis and regeneration to make new healthier habits.

By weeks' end, new associations and information can have a freeing affect as Mercury and the Sun move into logical Aquarius. This can bring new connections and opportunities for fresh starts, as long as you have been honest with yourself and your significant others around the work you needed to do to form a more cohesive network of support. For now, focus on doing your homework... and while you're at it, remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground!!
