Aquarius New Moon,The Chinese Year Of The Wood Horse, And Mercury Goes Retrograde

Tomorrow's New Moon in Aquarius happens at 4:38pm as Luna moves into conjunction with Sol. There's always another way to view or verse what is happening between the planets. We are used to saying, "it's a New Moon", but when is the last time you actually thought about what that means? The monthly alignment of the Moon with the Sun means that the instinctual, feeling nature of the Moon joins with the out-going energy of the Sun, bringing what is inner together with the outer, providing a focus for the lunar phase of the month ahead.

This month's focus is brought to you by Aquarius, the Fixed Air sign of unconventional ways of thinking. Natives of the 11th sign of the Zodiac are inventive, original and friendly, requiring independence and valuing freedom above all else, even as they share their oft-times revolutionary ideas of what is in the best interests of the community as a whole! Getting together with others to brainstorm solutions, especially new ideas for breaking through obsolete patterns of stuck energy, is where it's at during this New Moon phase.

Expect to see or be involved in group activities for the sharing of goals and ideals within your community during the next two weeks. This is the time to plant new seed ideas for subsequent growth! Certainly, there will be opportunities for gathering in unison with others to support the rights of individuals, whether that be in committees, humanitarian organizations or anywhere else that people get together to make a difference and connect with others, like church or social groups. On Nantucket, there will be an opportunity to gather on Valentines Day in connection with others worldwide for the One Billion Rising event that supports justice for women and children around the globe. Click here for more information about the 5 pm gathering at the Atheneum Library on February 14, 2014: https://www.facebook.com/OneBillionRisingACK

Networking is another means of sharing goals, thoughts and ideas with your friends and associates. The internet is one big web for reaching out and connecting with others through technology. Another way that Aquarian energy operates is via radio; information comes quickly and seemingly out of the blue through the airwaves. Intuition, invention and "just knowing" are other positive ways that information flows through this cool, winter Air sign. Won't you tune in to yours in the weeks ahead?! Logic and reasoning are also Aquarian hallmarks, so as long as you check your deep feelings at the door and don't expect any warm fuzzies from group members, you stand a chance of really accomplishing something for the greater good.

According to astrologer Susan Levitt, the Chinese year of the Wood Horse begins on Friday, January 31st, bringing a chance for fast victories, unexpected adventures and surprising romances in the year ahead. Being decisive is a must in a Horse year as procrastination won't pay off. However, if not 100% sure in your decision, don't do it, because going down the wrong path will also be very quick! Energy is high and productivity is rewarded. It will be a year of BIG fluctuations in the financial markets, with wars and conflicts springing up around the world. Peace will return in 2015 during the Year of the Wood Sheep. Horse's cycle equates to June, or Gemini in Western astrology.

Mercury turns retrograde on February 6th at three degrees of Pisces, going back to eighteen degrees of Aquarius before turning direct again on February 28th. During this three week time frame, do your research, review your plans and renew the commitments and connections that you already  made with others during January. Just avoid signing on the dotted line, making new commitments or buying cars, computers or any devices that have to do with communication and/or have moving parts. These things tend to break down during Mercury's retrograde cycle. No matter what you focus on, make sure you have all the necessary information to make smart choices!

Remember, we live in interesting times, so stay in your heart, keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground and know that all be be well!

Pathways Astrology: Cancer Full Moon 2014

Pathways Astrology: Cancer Full Moon 2014:    The Full Moon takes place at 11:52 pm tonight, at 27 degrees of Cancer. When the Sun and Moon do their monthly do-see-do in the Cardinal ...

Cancer Full Moon 2014

The Full Moon takes place at 11:52 pm tonight, at 27 degrees of Cancer. When the Sun and Moon do their monthly do-see-do in the Cardinal signs of Cancer and Capricorn, issues of home and security are on the table. It is time to take some action, or at least see if there is anything you need to begin looking at. Perhaps you need to focus on what can give you the most security and identify if that is in your professional life or at home. Maybe you're not having any issues, just enjoying home and hearth during these cold months, so you get to really feel the comfort your home and surroundings can give you. Pay attention to how secure you feel and you'll know where you need to take action.

The Sabian Symbol for the Moon's placement at 27 degrees Cancer is A Violent Storm In A Canyon Filled With Valuable Homes, which seems quite intense. Weather is definitely a factor in many places around the globe right now, but this speaks to more than just the physical elements, it also addresses emotional and spiritual well being, particularly since safety and security are the key concerns of Cancer and Capricorn. Homes are valuable to whomever lives in them and the threatening storm can have an affect in any of these areas of well being.

The Sun is opposite that degree at 27 Capricorn, for which the Sabian Symbol is: A mountain pilgrimage. What is involved here is a striving to reach the top, whether alone or with others who are also on a pilgrimage.  Is what you're trying to attain a career goal, business security or a successful passage through a time of great travail? No matter the goal, you will be  no doubt have company at various points along the way. How do these others fit into the bigger picture of what you hope to achieve?

Another aspect to this Full Moon is the Moon's recent involvement with both Venus (money, love and values) and Mars (energy, aggression and direction). With Venus also in Capricorn and Mars in Libra,  there is more emphasis on your personal finances and who you choose to spend your time and money on. All four corners of the Cardinal axis are engaged by having planets in each of these Zodiac signs: Aries, Libra, Cancer and Capricorn. Jupiter, still in Cancer and conjunct the Moon earlier today, just ratchets up the emotional quality of whatever issue you are dealing with.

My advice would be to not overreact on any level just now, but to wait until things settle down a bit before taking a stance on where the breakthrough is possible. Venus and Mars will be stepping out, or more accurately, squaring off, with each other midday tomorrow so  you may experience another hit of who has the power right now, if it isn't you. New information or insights can arrive early Friday under the Leo Moon as Mercury and Uranus join forces for a productive possibility and are then both engaged by Luna as well. Keep your eyes and ears open for opportunity to present itself!

As always, the illuminating power of the Moon at this point in her cycle is showing you how well you planted your seeds two weeks ago at the New Moon and where you need to tend, water and weed in order to attain your business or career goals. With Venus and Jupiter still retrograde for the rest of January, the inner search for self-worth and emotional security is what matters most.

Remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground as you seek this knowledge of self~

Happy New Year and Potent New Moon!!

A new year opening up on a New Moon is quite rare and adds to the potential of any intentions you set for yourself at this time. A couple of things make this a potent time, including an alignment with powerful Pluto, followed by a conjunction to communicative Mercury and a supportive assist from serious Saturn. This is a year of transformation of your soul's purpose and the New Moon in Capricorn implies the instinctual need for becoming the master of your own destiny, aligned with renewed power to take action!

The Solar/Lunar alignment with Pluto at this time means you need fearless introspection as you lay the past aside and get real with yourself. You know what you hunger for and you know what you need to release in order to move forward. This New Moon empowers you to take action and make progress toward your own goals. Capricorn is a Cardinal sign, especially driven to setting business, career and professional goals in motion. Now is not the time to be hesitant... go, be, do and don't look back!!

Mercury also aligning with this New Moon adds to the ability to hone your mental skills in on your priorities. There is a lot of outside pressure from aspects to Mars, Jupiter and Uranus that are pushing you to take sudden, big moves or quick action; I would caution you against any far-flung moves that don't support your well thought out path at this time! Saturn in Scorpio is being positively aspected by the Moon for an opportunity to accomplish  a step in the right direction, depending on how or who you align yourself with at this time. Notice how I keep saying at this time...?! That's because Saturn is the Keeper of Time and as the ruler of Capricorn, is reminding us that the time is now to take action and take care of business!

After all is said and done, you know you are ready for a change and that you need to rely on yourself to make said change... because no one else is going to do it for you. The Capricorn New Moon, forming this harmonious alignment with Saturn, brings both the energy for the hard work required and the opportunity to accomplish a step in the right direction. A few words here about f.e.a.r. (false evidence appearing real...) no one and no thing can stop you unless you let fear creep in. This is the time to banish fear and hesitation!! Again, go, be, do and don't look back.

Yes, we start the New Year under Venus and Jupiter Retrogrades, but I see that as appropriate for resetting of goals and identifying your core values. Venus retrograde allows you to get back in touch with yourself and what matters most of all to you. What resources do you have to work with and how can they best serve you? Be very specific about what gives you the sense of security you desire and how much you actually need. Saturn's limiting influence around all of this means that with honesty, hard work, focus and determination, you can be very productive. Just don't expect immediate results. Instead, be patient and look for signs of success down the road, maybe waaay down the road, like in early July.

Remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground, while writing your Wish List for the New Moon and the New Year ahead!!
Happy New Year to you~

Gemini Full Moon and Winter Solstice 2013

Welcome to the busiest Full Moon of the year! It's apt that the Gemini Moon occurs around the Holidays, with all the social activities, planning and errands. We are certainly having to make mental checklists each day... did I get that done... what am I forgetting... who do I need to call now?!  The adaptability of this Mutable Air sign can be a both a blessing and a curse with so many people running to and fro. The Sun  in Sagittarius opposing this Moon adds to the expansiveness of wanting to do it all... be at every party... not leave anything out... there are many reasons to be cautious here!

My suggestion would be to decide (make up your mind...) to do only so much. Perhaps the communication you need is to let others know you are waiting to hear from them, that you have met your limit, and it's time for them to report back. Maybe you are planning an event , making a new schedule or negotiating with neighbors, siblings or co-workers. All of these possible scenarios require research, focus and adjustment or compromise. The Gemini Full Moon will illustrate where you are expending your mental energy so be sure to use your thoughts and words wisely.

The Sun enters the last Cardinal sign of the Zodiac, Capricorn, to kick off the Winter season on Saturday, the 21st. This is known as the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year for daylight, and marks the point in the year signaling the return of the Light and longer days ahead. This is also the time for pulling in and getting work done in preparation for the coming thaw several months from now. Capricorn energy is best used by focusing on business and career goals and taking care of practical matters. The Solstice point is the important beginning of the "new" year and it is wise to set one's intentions now and take actual steps to secure growth in those areas in the coming year.

Winter Solstice has significance for mundane (worldly) matters, as well as in one's personal chart. Wherever you have Capricorn in your chart shows you where your personal responsibility lies.  In the first house, you want to be taken seriously and need to be able to back up the image you present to the world. However, with Pluto transiting this sensitive first house, you have been experiencing basic changes in your physical structure, how you look, or are transforming into a whole new persona.

In the US chart, the Sun is affecting the area of Government structure and financial concerns; the need for change is obvious in any system that isn't working the way it was intended. Sometimes systems have to change to be viable once more. This time of year always points out where we need to work hard and with Pluto in Capricorn, where transformation is taking place.

Remember, while looking at how to structure your business, career or your life, to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground!  Happy Holidays Everyone~

Sagittarius New Moon

Today's New Moon in the fiery sign Sagittarius heralds a month of inspiration, aspiration and enthusiasm. As the Sun and Moon join together, let your inner truth and outer quest expand into oneness as you seek answers on your path to wholeness. The past month, with the Sun in  Scorpio, Fixed Water, signified an intense need to share emotional desires and create lasting productive liaisons. Now it is time to take all your creativity and joint projects to new heights of endeavoring!

This is the last New Moon of 2013 and the final time before the Sun enters industrious Capricorn at the Winter Solstice on December 21st, to adjust your thinking and your endeavors to suit the new goals you are setting for yourself this lunar month. Sagittarius is the sign of the seeker, philosopher and teacher, always ready to chase new horizons in its' quest for truth and a higher purpose. What is your purpose and how do you see yourself fitting into the bigger picture?

The underlying energy of this New Moon has to do with our higher selves and the highest ideals to which one can aspire. There is a caution not to get on one's soapbox or to proselytize one's beliefs, because while they might be right for you, they are not for everyone! The expansiveness of Sag's ruler, Jupiter, reminds us of the inclusiveness of many different beliefs and faiths. Each soul has its' own path to follow on its' journey and you can get some insight into yours by knowing where Sagittarius and Jupiter are in your Natal chart. For many people, the current transit of Jupiter in Cancer is highlighting the need for a safe and nurturing home; maybe this is part of your Sagittarian quest this month.

For some, when the Sun is traveling through Sagittarius, long range goals get a make-over that may involve travel, publishing that book you've kept on the back burner all these years, or studying philosophical or spiritual matters. There is a teacher in Sag that loves to travel the world and gather information, bringing it back to share with all. There is a broadcaster and a philosopher and a procrastinator too...which of these Archer personnas do you want to personify this month?!

While dreaming your vision into reality, remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground.

New Moon Solar Eclipse and the Fourth Uranus/Pluto Square

Hello everyone... are you feeling the weight of the world being lifted or holding you down? It's a dark time with yesterday's fourth exact square of Uranus (revolution and the unexpected) and Pluto (decay and rebirth) happening at the darkest time of the lunar cycle, the Balsamic phase, just before tomorrow's New Moon in Scorpio. Phew, that was a mouthful! And, thankfully, not the end of the matter...

What is happening out there, in the world, is also a reflection of where you are at in here. What is happening overall is the need for change - out with the old decaying structures, agreements and behaviors that no longer serve humanity. That's the Uranus/Pluto square in Aries (fire) and Capricorn (earth). All this upheaval all around the world creates a sense of foreboding and uncertainty that can bring up fear. Are you buying into the fear and feeling like you have no power or are you in charge of your life and your attitude? You are the only one who can decide to see the potential in the coming changes, the one who can make the most of every day, no matter what it brings. The one who can live in the moment and be happy and grateful for what you do have. This is the challenge of the times we are going through. Let your light shine!

The New Moon occurs at 7:50a.m. in the twelfth degree of Scorpio tomorrow, Sunday, November 3rd. It is also a rare, hybrid (Annular and Total) Solar Eclipse of the Sun, meaning that some parts of the path of the eclipse are annular while others are total. Here in the Northeast, we will experience the annular part of the eclipse, getting a partial view of the Sun beyond the dark covering of the Moon. Remember, do NOT look directly at the Sun, even with a telescope or binoculars, or you can damage your eyesight. Here is a link, courtesy of the Maria Mitchell Association, for how to safely view this astronomical event: http://www.exploratorium.edu/eclipse/how.html

Now for the astrological interpretation of the Solar Eclipse... When the Sun (vitality and life force) comes together with the Moon (instinctual behavior) in the Fixed Water sign Scorpio, it can bring a lot of emotional undercurrents to the surface. These can be creative passions, jealousies or secrets, which rise up to be released. Hopefully, whatever comes up for you, you decide to release what isn't productive and funnel your creative energies into something more fulfilling and life-affirming!

The power of the eclipse will send your seed thoughts out into the world with a greater potential than at a regular New Moon, so look closely at what your intentions are and plant wisely. Scorpio's positive attributes are creative partnerships, whether business or personal, and the ability to get to the bottom of things. Just keep in mind that when diving into hidden territory, you may uncover things that require confidentiality or extreme trust. The depth of emotions lurking below the surface has the power to change lives profoundly, for good or ill. Let go of the sludge and find those hidden nuggets of potential that when combined with the proper intention and aimed rightly, will make a difference in your life and the lives of those with whom you chose to be in relationship. Keep in mind that the eclipse cycle will show you how well you've done in six months time.

and remember to keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground~
